If the Hoever deal ends up getting called off. Who would we want instead?

Darnell Furlong at West Brom is on the last year of his contract. Also has a Robinson-esque long throw which could be fun.

Also quite like Norton-Cuffy, the Arsenal youngster who was on loan at Millwall last season.

Furlong is wank. So not him.

Bali Mumba for me.

Mumba or Cuffy. Arsenal fans have been saying online him and Patino haven’t been in with the first team as Arsenal are trying to shift them this summer

Wilder doesn’t like going the foreign route but we could do with some decent scouts than his mate hoyland

All three would be fantastic.

Norton-Cuffy and Patino would be superb.

Mumba isn't great defensively but world would still be great.

Just sign any fucker now, scatter gun approach needed.

No rhyme or reason, no calculation, we need a squad to compete.

When I looked at the stats for last season, and not including the promoted teams' players, these appeared to be the best right backs in the Championship:
Perry Ng (28yo, Cardiff, contracted til 2026, TM value €3.8m, WS rating 7.16)
Ethan Laird (22yo, Birmingham, contracted til 2026, TM value €2.5m, WS rating 7.13)
Ki-Jana Hoever (22yo, on loan at Stoke from Wolves, contracted til 2026, TM value €4.5m, WS rating 7.08)
Milan van Ewijk (23yo, Coventry, contracted til 2027, TM value €7m, WS rating 7.03)
Jeremy Ngakia (23 yo, Watford, contracted til 2028, TM value €1.5m, WS rating 6.96)
Trai Hume (22yo, Sunderland, contracted til 2028, TM value €7m, WS rating 6.96)
Callum Brittain (26yo, Blackburn, contracted til 2026, TM value €2.5m, WS rating 6.86)

PA probables happy to “go with what we’ve got” if Wilders comments last night are anything to go by.

One things for sure, Wilder doesn’t know what’s going on. He’s constantly told fans in interviews player contracts or deals are “72 hours away” “players staying”, “at least 2 in in next few days” is probably his most used type of go to line in interviews. More like a couple in next few windows.

So from that list of last seasons best, why not go to Birmingham for Laird? L1…back to the champ would be a good move and to one of the teams that has legitimate expectations to challenge.

I’d rather go after permanent signings than loans anyway.

For me, I’d rather we went looking at a keeper on loan in the Hendo mould. That being from a big club that’s hoarding talent leading to frustration at lack of game time.
