No, Their manager might well have done done but their chairman has put the club up for sale and blocked any new expenditure. Not a happy club at the moment.

I'm quite sure if we chucked Carruthers and some money at them they'd probably do business.

Would get Robinson a player he wants and some dosh to spend.

Idve thought a swap deal with some pocket change could be a goer here surely?

As far as I know , Ricky Holmes has never expressed a wish to become a Blades player, but he has, I believe, said he is happy to remain at Charlton. Hence I can`t see CW being too keen to bring him to BDTBL at this stage of our recruitment.

Why would he? Wigan will probably be in the championship and would be bidding in the summer also.

If Wolves are willing to sell now after he's had a good season they certainly will be when they're promoted to the PL.

Maybe his price would go up a bit, maybe Wigan and others would offer more competition. But he'd be available.

Maybe this is a good opportunity to get a good player but it's not another Sam Morsy for 200k scenario like it was 2 years ago.

Fuck him then.

Fuck him then.

Think Holmes puts personal happiness above money, although he’s getting on a bit
And we might be his last chance to play at a decent level. Also CW knows him well from their Northampton days.

He’s an Essex boy and even looks like he wants to be on TOWIE. Can only assume he’s happy to stay close to London.

I think we should get players in now especially if we’re short in that area. Wilder could be out of a job in the summer, why would he wait? The market has also changed in the last few years and £200k then is £500k + now.

Wilder out of a job!???
In which parallel universe are you referring to bud???

No way could Wilder possibly be out of a job unless he chose to leave.

The market has changed but Chesterfield let Morsy go cheap at the time. That was a great opportunity to sign a player who would've instantly become a key player. It's not the case with Evans.

We won't be short when Coutts is back. We'll barely be short before he's back. So why not just get someone on loan?

Plenty of whispers doing the rounds about this one again.

I wasn't excited at the prospect in the summer, but having seen how we've done so far this season, I think he'd be a good player for us.

He used us to get a pay rise last time, he is wrong side of thirty.
Would rather sign Emerson hyndman on loan and make it permanent when we go up.

We may have made a quick decision to go for him due to problems signing Kent and the developing situation at Charlton.

But I don't want him here. I want more pace. He'll be 31 in the summer. He's an absolute Essex boy. He used us to get a pay rise. He's clearly indifferent about playing for us. Let him stay in L1. Let him stay in Essex. He'll only want to go back there in the summer if we sign him.

Agree with all of that I have reservations too.
However Wilder was his manager at Northampton, so he knows his qualities and attitude better than almost anyone.
So if Wilder wants him then surely we can have confidence that he knows he will improve our chances of promotion.
Also the Charlton fans rate him and say he’s been better then they expected and is their best player.
Also Holmes is great at taking free kicks. Does he take the corners too?

Am I not right in saying that this lad publicly turned his back on us? Never mind the failed bids...His interview after it all was that he never wanted to join us was it not?

With this in mind.....Don't want him in the slightest.

Yep I think he did allude to that when he signed his new deal

Personally, I've moved on from him.

I never saw anything about him not wanting to join United I only heard that he was happy to stay at Charlton ad didn’t want to leave. Big difference.

The usual footballer platitudes that was.

Facts are he spoke to Wilder about a move up North, and wanted to come, Charlton wouldn`t sell, and he got a nice pay rise and new deal out of it.
He now has the chance for another signing on fee, another pay rise, and will more than likely say its `a dream come true` to join us.

We are interested still, and I`m guessing so is he.

All said and done, he`s a great talent, forget age, he came into the game late, and has got better and better, don`t think he has peaked yet.
Can create, great at dead balls, able to ping one in the top corner from 25 yards, and a fantastic attitude.

A definite yes from me!

Id welcome the lad too if it is to happen.
