Good signing ,he improves the squad that is all yhat matters at this stage. I like how Wilder does his business no rumours then bang we sign someone, i think we can forget about signing those players with long threads in the rumours section. Happy with this signing, can't see us paying over £1m though tha t seems a bit steep.

If the reason he hasn't been announced is because we're waiting to announce a double signing then I'll bet the second is another lad who's barely/not been mentioned at all!
You mean someone like Ricky Holmes or Ryan Leonard?? They seem to have been forgotten about these past few seconds!!

Well done Blades.
Should be a good signing in crucial position.

UTB!

A back 3 of Lenihan Stearman O'Connell would appear very good indeed.

Two physically good young players who are ideal for the wide CB roles, one in the middle who's experienced but not too old, and all 3 of them are quite tall. And like O'Connell, Lenihan is seen as a future captain.

Whoever else we sign at CB, having Stearman takes the pressure off that signing.

Isn’t Lenihan a bit of a short arse?

Sure I read somewhere he’s only 5”10.

They're loads wealthier. At least five are on parachute payments and another four or five have billionaire owners.
So thats 9 of 24 i guess my definition of most differs from yours

Thought I saw he was 6 foot plus somewhere, but maybe you're right. Not really a problem if he's next to 2 big lads though.

Brief video of him here, I'd put him between 5"10 and 6"1. Btw, looks like he can pass.

End of that video it says he is 6'2. looks like he'd suit playing rcb in a back 3.

looks quite quick for a CB

He certainly seems to be able to pass accurately with distance. Him and stearman and magic hat will make a good back 3. I M O.

They're just the ones he mentioned. His point remains valid:

The majority of the teams in the championship will be operating with much larger budgets than us.

Fuck me, we've signed Aphex Twin.

Happy with this signing, hopefully a few more with Championship experience to follow.

OK, I was making a conservative estimate as I was going out and hadn't the time to list them all.

Sunderland, Boro, Hull, Villa, Norwich are all receiving full parachute payments.

Wolves, Reading, Forest and Birmingham all have relatively new owners who seem prepared to put money in.

Brentford, Derby and Cardiff continue to be supported by their existing owners.

There's a couple of Yorkshire clubs I'd rather not mention, one has a new owner but is probably dodgy, the other seems to have deep fishy pockets.

So I make that at least thirteen. I've also read QPR still have a high wage bill, which surprises me but again, they have some seriously wealthy backers.

I think Fulham are on reduced parachute payments.

So that's fifteen.

Good signing, let's hear the moaning bastards now. Championship experience, won't be ludicrous salary wise. Does he wear black boots?

He might have Championship experience but the moaning Minnie's will just say it shows a lack of ambition and he's a poor player

I suspect applications from either you or I would be blackballed...

You'd be welcomed Pinch. And you know it. BTW the black thing is a long standing Ricky/Herbert creation. He's advocated us scouring the French Second league for black, hungry, pacy players. Whenever we are linked with someone the question as to his level of pace, colour and appetite is raised. Good to see its been jumped all over. Would hate to think anything gets away from those professionals working in the stressfull field of being offended on other peoples behalfs.

It says he's 6' 2" in the video that you've posted.

There's also a fine line between great passing and "hoofball" around these parts

I've managed Richard many times on Football Manager. Good egg. Good leader, consistent if playing regularly, solid, chips in with a few goals and can play CB or RB. The only downside is that he's not the quickest anymore. He wasn't the best fit for a back 3 though.

Very good captain material and reliable. I'd be tempted to give him Vice/Captain but could rock the boat too much.

Lack of pace is a concern. However,if he can compensate with his reading of the game I wouldn't be overly worried.Seems a solid bloke who puts it all out there and has a strong personality and presence. Fits Wilders requirements.
Mention for McCabe stumping up a chunk for this signing despite reports on here he's gone all cheapo again. Pesky chairman eh!

As Roygbiv is on holiday I thought I would step in. Found these on the Fulham fans forum. Sounds promising.

"Richard Stearman has signed for Sheffield United"

"he's gone to Sheffield United"

"I'm hearing the blades have signed Richard Stearman?"

"yep, confirmed he's gone"

Watch out Roygbiv

Utter Cottagey Cottager claptrap. They haven't a fucking clue...
