Experienced Chanpionship centre half and we paid a fee for him.

Very happy with this signing.

You're very quick to jump on people for guesswork in their posts Pinch, but this reads...

... as if you have a inside line to Wilder or if he's said as much.

I haven't but I got Runaround Done right and I'm pretty confident about Wright as well. We can't say on the one hand that we need two new Centre-Backs [we do] and then put Jake Wright first on the team-sheet for sentimental reasons. As I say, Jake was superb for us and deserves all the plaudits he's received, but in football we move on...

Most of our peers are not more wealthy than ourselves! They probably have bigger budgets though. Using the term 'hoping' our youngsters step up speaks volumes.

I fail to see any real distinction between being wealthy and having a large budget. The fact of the matter is that due to the prevalence of sugar daddy owners and the increased parachute payments, we are (finacially) little fish in a big pond.

Villa, Wolves, Birmingham, Derby, Bristol City, Hull, Boro, Norwich and Wednesday are just some of the teams off the top of my head that would be considered far more wealthy than ourselves. That's not cap-doffing, (Pinchy) I still think we will hold our own, it's just a financial reality.

As for the use of the word "hope" whether or not you think it "speaks volumes" is irrelevant. It's the only realistic strategy we have to progress.
And as an aside, there is a degree of hope in every single transfer, as even the most proven names could fail.

In short sir, you're wrong.

Can't really argue with this signing.

Ticks a lot of boxes for me. Experience in the championship, decent enough age, has captained sides previously.

Wondered if we will get another centre back? Ideally someone young and improving like JOC with pace to complement what we've got.

And it covers a key position where we Weber properly short!

As Roygbiv is on holiday I thought I would step in. Found these on the Fulham fans forum. Sounds promising.

"Richard Stearman has signed for Sheffield United"

"he's gone to Sheffield United"

"I'm hearing the blades have signed Richard Stearman?"

"yep, confirmed he's gone"

Watch out Roygbiv

I can't compete with that

1 million pounds ? Thats Brayford AND Fleck out of the door then .

Why won't this maelstrom subside ?

might do if blackburn accept the next bid we make for lenihan

I've listened to Wilders interview and he doesnt state Stearman was our No1 target he is talking about the position, as in a CB was our No1 target. not taking owt away from this singing though

off topic but he mentions wilson finalising a loan move on monday, not heard anything about this anyone heard anything else about this?

You weren't bang on the money with Weir, as somebody's signature regularly reminds me :D

ive seen him play a fair bit in the flesh as my ex other half was from wolves and i lived there for 2 years, went to about 15 wolves games when the blades werent playing as she was a big fan and i just wanted to watch some footie, always looked good to me, read the game well and a great organiser, not the greatest on the deck but great in the air and does just your basic defending, no thrills a steady 7 out of 10 everytime i saw him, very pleased with this

Would be pleased with that as a defence

2 x young players who are only going to get better. If he comes alongside JOC
1 unbeaten experienced leader in wright.
1 solid expiereinced championship player in stearman.
And bash who was arguably the best player on league one from the turn of the year and made the rbc slot his own.

A back 3 of Lenihan Stearman O'Connell would appear very good indeed.

Two physically good young players who are ideal for the wide CB roles, one in the middle who's experienced but not too old, and all 3 of them are quite tall. And like O'Connell, Lenihan is seen as a future captain.

Whoever else we sign at CB, having Stearman takes the pressure off that signing.

Happy with this signing. Hopefully we will bring another centre half in but less pressure now so we could maybe afford to wait until after the season starts

Excellent performance, I expect Roygbiv is quaking in his boots at the thought he may lose his job

That kills the Jagielka rumour stone dead then. Stearman and JOC are certain starters in a back four. Add Basham if we go a back three.
