That team was really good in the Cup, bearing in mind that we were not even in the top league. I’m not sure we were better than Leicester in the first 2 semi-final games, but we were certainly as good as them. I was behind the wrong goal in the first game to see whether Pace did handle the ball in the disallowed goal incident. He always maintained he didn’t, and that he had a mud stain on his shirt showing where the ball hit his body, not his arm. I don’t remember ever seeing film of the ‘goal’. It all helped me get used to the lifetime of United failing just when they seem to be about to achieve great success. But I doubt we would have beaten that great Spurs team in the Final…

Yes we did! Amazing first 20 minutes ! We blitzed them.
The first semi at Elland Rd! I was on the terracing opposite where Doc shot and scored never saw an handball! But as often happens in our history ! Something always happens to beat us! Just look at our record in the play offs! We are the original nearly men! Will it ever end.
