Sheffield United look set to join the chase for Newry City's rising start Richard Clarke, after an impressive display against the Blades on Saturday.
Rangers and Gillingham are also interested in the Newry captain, but all three will have to wait until after the Northern Ireland under-21 midfielder returns from a five day training stint with Bury starting today.
Bryan Robson's side beat Newry 3-1 with two late goals at The Showgrounds on Saturday and immediately afterwards the new Bramall Lane manager made enquiries about the 22-year-old.
"Bryan Robson was impressed by Richard and I won't be surprised if he follows it up," said Newry manager Gerry Flynn.
"We'll not stand in the lad's way if the right offer comes along, but obviously I'd prefer him to go across the water.
"He's off to Bury for five days to train. Keith Alexander with whom I played at Cliftonville is manager at Bury so I know the lad will be well looked after."
Since taking over as manager in February Flynn has been fighting off enquiries from Irish League clubs interested in one of his prized assets, but all those have been rebuffed.
Scottish giants Rangers had their scout at the game on Saturday and Gillingham were also represented.
