So Parish has said they have not made a bid, formal or otherwise yet Sky Sports now say that they are "prepared to".........what the fuck is that supposed to mean....we are prepared to offer a loan deal evidently......complete non-story now, Sky have made themselves look like the set of twats they are..
more than likely RBs agent drumming up interest, because whether or not it’s true, as a seller you always want two or more parties interested to start a bidding war!!

I can’t see a reason you’d make a big public song and dance about not putting a bid in for the lad... if you were intending to put a bid in for the lad.

Feels to me like something you’d do to distance yourself from someone who is not a target, so that the fans get less stroppy with you when another club signs him.

Genuinely interested to hear if anyone can think of a good reason to do this with a player you were actively looking to buy?

It wasn’t a tasty bid...it was a stupid high risk deal for Palace....and incredibly with little reward....if he becomes a star Liverpool could buy him back on the cheap.
It was a “no lose” deal for Liverpool.....I was pleased we backed out of a potential financial suicide deal.
Lets not forget that Brewster is still only potential....we shouldn’t expect much from him this season.
I can't remember the deal excacly but it was about 18mil and 6mil of add ons. With a buy back that had to be over 3 years away of 37mil.

If he keeps you up, pushes you on and maybe even gets you European football in that time then its worth it. Ok you'd only sell on for 13mil profit but 1) that's still cheaper than Watkins and 2) a great 3 years with us still doesn't mean Liverpool will be smashing the door down to spend £37 mil to get him back.

It might have been above what we can/should offer but I don't think it would have been financial suicide for a Palace.

Someone at LFC maybe feeding dodgy stuff to the media to start a bidding war?

At least we might get an update from Wilder tonight, but can't see him building on "it's between Bettis and Liverpool".

Deano came on loan to get noticed. He wanted to be our No.1 keeper to have a chance to go back to Man Utd and hustle for his spot. Depends what Brewster wants. If Liverpool have a buy-back clause, of say £40m, they won’t trigger it if he doesn’t play much and impress.
If the lad wants to be bought back and play for Liverpool, he should go to a club where he can impress and get that ‘next step to a big club’.
Likewise, Klopp will want to see him play, to make that decision. That could be to our advantage.
However, if he doesn’t mind sitting on the bench at Palace with 40k per week in his back pocket, then he might choose to go there. And if Liverpool don’t mind losing him, then they will just sell to anyone.
The question is, how much influence does Liverpool have on the kid? If us and Palace are both offering the same fee, can Liverpool tell the lad they will only sell for a buy back, or is he free to choose?

This I think is agent talk , unfortunately I think he wants to go to palace and not us , him and his agent are desperately trying to connive a move there , probably more money and closer to home think we should forget it an move on , he’s another cunt

I have been at work all day, and am unsurprised to find this is already up to 198 pages. Wow.

Can someone summarise what has happened in the 30 odd pages since I last looked.

To the untrained eye it appears very little, but can someone do a summary please. Just a couple of lines of text will be sufficient.

Thanks.

Sky reported a bid of 18m with 6m add ons and a 37m buy back from palace.

Palace chairman asked them to remove it from their site as there's been " no informal or formal bid of any kind"

Absolutely nothing other than lots of rumour and gnashing of teeth!

You missed the bit in between
The total meltdown about “that‘s it...he’s a Palace player then”, “lack of ambition”, “we’re going down“, “knew we never had a chance of getting him” etc
Some of our fans appeared suicidal and very angry towards Wilder, Bettis and The Prince.
You even had some suggesting “we are desperate...so should have paid whatever Liverpool and the player ask for”
Talk about kids throwing their toys out of the pram...surely some of it was just for show/ attention seeking.

Now the Palace Chairman has strongly refuted the Sky story regards any kind of bid...it means we‘re back to being prime contender again.

Everyone knows how desperate we are for a forward. That drives the price up a couple of million. No way would we get Grant for £10m or less. Either we pay the going rate or hope for the best with what we’ve got.
No I mean £10m less than the £25m being asked for Brewster, grants available for about £15m.

I am thinking all this in press maybe rubbish can u see klopp passing on chance off loaning him to us and getting him back a even better player, klopp has said on record he sees him a Liverpool player in the future, but just no place at min, bit like hendo deal has been?
