CONFIRMED Rhian Brewster

Agree again, last season up to the Liverpool game we played some beautiful possession based football...consistently making the opposition look poor.
Then we played away at Liverpool and based on general play we’re totally outclassed.

Since that game we’ve reverted more to defending in numbers and relying on counter attack. Our focus for a while now has been all about making us tough to beat (which we excell at) instead of being brave/ attacking with no pressure and taking the game to the opposition.

We play our best football when we are on the front foot sitting deep has always cost us especially in the dying minutes of games because we would always switch off in the last few minutes.

If Berge starts driving forward like he has been, in combination with Lowe and Bogle (or Baldock and Enda with a kick up the arse Bogle and Lowe have given them) would be a lot more creative than last season if we don't get anyone in in midfield

The thing that I find funny is

The people that are bigging up Brewster saying he’s worth it for 25 million
will be the same people slagging off Brewster when he struggles in his first few games....it could be like McBurnie revisited.

If his agent has read this thread he’d advise him to go to Palace where he can start on the bench, develop in preparation to produce next season not this season.
It’s totally unrealistic and madness...to pin our hopes for the season on a young lad who has hardly played any top level football.
The expectation will be a massive weight.....good job our fans aren’t in the stadium...even next year might be tough for him. Suspect Liverpool know what they are doing....they know he’s not good enough for the next 2 or 3 years (probably lower end to average PL level)..but in 3 or 4 years he could be a top PL striker.

We need to show patience to our young players...not write them off after a few games when playing at a totally new (more difficult) level.
Great post Sheffsteel but it will fall on deaf ears. The ones who are shouting loudest to sign him will be the first to get on his back if he doesn't hit the ground running.
Actually as someone else stated no fans in the ground will probably help him if we sign him, barracking ( if he has a mixed start ) players especially young ones destroys confidence and is counter productive.

If we pay £25m for him there’s no way we can say this is a brilliant deal, it’s a huge gamble regardless of how brilliant he looked for Swansea.

There can’t be any team that’s ever paid £25m based on half a season in any second tier division

Remember how absolutely certain most pig fans were about Jordan Rhodes.

Really hope we get Brewster, but fans should only kick off if we miss out on Brewster and then don’t bring anyone in. As long as the club makes a £10-20m investment in a striker that could improve our firepower, that’s the main thing.

Never panic in the transfer market, trust in your management team and make sensible but purposeful investments
Wolves have spend £35mill on Porto striker Fabio Silva, who has played a grand total of 12 games, scoring one goal.

Just had a look at the tweets of Crystal Palace’s supposed ITK, someone asked him an hour ago if he’s confident they’ll get Brewster his answer was “nope”

Also says he expects Brewster to move this week but Palace not ready to do business for a while yet as nobody has left. It looks promising as of right now

Had a further dig, said earlier this morning Brewster the priority for Palace so quite a change of tune
