yep - nothing about that forum suggested any sizeable outlay was going to be coming in. This isn’t happening, certainly not on a permanent deal.

Hope wilder has a rabbit up his sleeve as without moussets goals from last season and Hendersons contribution at the other end it could become a tricky season.

They didn't say we couldn't afford them, just that 2 members of the board thought we were paying more than they were worth.

Which if it's as Wilder said 3.5m + 3.5m for them then they both want firing because that's incredible business lol

How do you know this isn't happening

I don’t - but the jist of the forum was the financial impact of Covid on the club. Making sure we didn’t go over budget, and we are safeguarded for the future etc etc. And There were concerns about what we paid for the full backs.

Makes me think it very unlikely we have 20m sat around to buy a striker with. If it happens it’s only going to be a loan imo, and apparently Liverpool need the cash which isn’t an ideal scenario.

Probably some ludicrously expensive add ons rather than the initial fees I'd imagine.

No one said the Bogle + Lowe stretched the budget, just 2 of them didn't think it was value for money

I thought they said the signings had taken us way over budget, or words to that effect? They certainly didn’t give the indication that we’re about to break our transfer record.

I thought it was ‘overbudget’ but either way - I am more than happy to be corrected if he ends up coming in.

And I am certainly not advocating spending money we don’t have. If we have to take someone on loan, that’s fair enough with me. Just I feel the expectations of us spending another 20m seem wide of the mark based on my interpretation of what was said

Is anyone thinking wilder may have said his budgets been lowerd just to stop clubs demanding more for players if we got more to spend???? Maybe wrong but if true we we bid 25mil then we had more than anyone was expecting

Why?
We are talking 2nd season in the premier league.
In this division you have to pay top dollar.
If we dont then we fall behind every other club in this league.
The sooner we realise this the fucking better.
Except last last, the only season that we’ve been here. Also Burnley manage to bunk the trend most seasons and of course Villa which prove that point isn’t accurate as they spend loads and finished below a lot of teams who invested less.

Wilder pleaded poverty in the January transfer window and then in the next breath Berge arrived for £22million.

Yep, I don’t believe a word they come out with when it comes to transfers. It’s all a game of smoke and mirrors.

"We are little old Sheffield United, we ain't got two pennies to rub together."

Sooo I’m confused. Coming back on here , now it’s looking like we are not signing him? Or we still are? Dare I ask for a simple answer!

Does anybody really think Wilder would spunk nearly 20million on a keeper knowing it wouldn't leave him any money for a striker?

Yes if he thought he could get loans. If we don't sign a cutting edge we are in for a bad time this season.

Exactly. Nor are we going to come out and say “yeah, we’ve saved the best part of £30million to sign a striker or two”

It’s all just a big game of poker.
