Click on Bogle’s insta post about joining us. Guess who’s posting underneath congratulating him 👀.

Doesn’t mean much but probably helps our chances ever so slightly if they’re mates.

I think it's more about the fact that Villa seemingly won't fuck off.

At first it was coincidental, then a bit more common, now it's just ridiculous. And I don't subscribe to the notion that we would undoubtedly be shopping in the same pool. They spunk money at owt, they can afford to shop elsewhere, they just follow our judgement.

Yeah, it does seem like most our targets are being watch by Villa. That said we have caught them by surprise with the capture of Bogle and Lowe for less than Cash.

I think Wilder is chucking a few red herrings around to throw Villa and others off who he really wants.

He also congratulated Ramsdale on insta when he joined!

I prefer the thought of them being chummy with each other on instagran because they're all signing for the blades, and nothing to do with them playing in the England youth set up together.

3rd one down latibeaudiere I wouldn’t mind coming in at all Doncaster born versatile defender represented England at youth level left footed I think and has captained Man City’s youth sides aswell not ready for first team but might be worth a punt think I saw something saying he was available this summer aswell

Ahhhh clever lad!! Give your head a wobble and wind ya neck in, shag. It's an observation. Plus, the inference is they know eachother so any potential move, one would assume, would be more attractive.

Hey a couple of Summers ago you’d have thought Waghorn was the second coming if you hung around on this forum long enough.

Sliding doors moment for Waghorn that summer. He could have signed for us the pre season when we went on to win promotion from the championship, whilst he enjoyed mediocrity with Frank's Derby County after they blew us away with the personal terms they offered him.

He chose the extra wonga on offer with a new novice manager, instead of a lesser but still handsome wage under the tuition of Wilder and Knill. Could have been a PL player now if he had developed under CWAK. I bet he kicks himself most days and there must be an element of 'if only' when he see's 2 of his footballing colleagues run out of the door to go and sign for SUFC today. Silly lad. Still, he can look back at his nice wage slips under Frank. :)

Sky sports just featured this story, Liverpool aren’t keen on Newcastle as they don’t know if Bruce will be there long. Looking at selling with a buy back clause. Surely that would rule villa out too?? Come on Chris, give your new German mate a call

I think Villa have a player from Manchester City with a buy back clause so they’re obviously not averse to them

Thing is, they'd be looking for 20m+ I think. My concerns would be:
a) it seems a very high fee for 1 good season in the Championship
b) we simply don't have that money to spend to the best of my knowledge, and
c) the buy back fee would have to be sufficiently high enough for it to be worth our while developing him.

Don't get me wrong, if we went out and spent 20m on him tomorrow I'd have an erection you could hang a wet towel on, but I wonder if there are less risky purchases out there with potentially higher resale value.

Hmmm interesting- if the rumours Burke is a loan are true then this could be why. Liverpool apparently have to sell to buy so could be we could get it done.

Strikes me as unlikely however.

There's an element of a gamble in all signings. Despite Brewster's limited professional minutes... I personally think we would try to buy him if available (and offer him a perfectly sizeable wage increase) promising regular football. We'd find the money if it felt important enough.

I'd also be unbelievably excited if we did get him in.

The kid is a natural goalscorer.

I hope I'm wrong but I cannot see us buying Brewster. I'm not sure where we are gonna get this spare 15M-20M to put down an offer.

Last summer we spent (I've genuinely forgotten) £50m-ish?

So far we've (allegedly) spent £30m-ish this summer, plus £20m-ish in January for Berge. Somewhere between £30m-50m... we are blissfully unaware.

Pandemic cost us £20-30m Wilder casually estimated awhile back. Obviously could be more as it's ongoing for a long time.

However, I'm sure we can get the finance from somewhere if a potential England international striker became available for £20-25m, while the board will feel very confident that we aren't going to be relegated this season.

a) a la McB
b) a la Berge
c) aye

Was the towel wet 'afore it was hung out? 😳

A Liverpool mate of mine is not happy at the growing rumour in Liverpool circles that they are going to sell him. Pointed me towards this thread yesterday from Swiss Ramble that should be taken into account. Seems very odd that they might need to sell, but perhaps not with this context.

I reckon he would be a solanke or an ibe

Unless the buy back fee was double our outlay I'd tell them to ram their deal.
Something similar to Chelsea’s buy back for Ake with Bournemouth might not be out of the question (think that was reported as £20m with buy back option of £40m)

That’s only if we have £20m to spend on a striker still - but if the rumours we were/are in for Dennis have any weight then you think there might be this in the budget

Back in 1968, while in Div 1, we paid £26.5k for a young kid that had only played 18 games for a 3rd Division outfit. That was a fair sum before PL mega money was invented.
Tony Currie worked out well for us.

Batshuyai about to sign new Chelsea contract and join Palace for the year on loan. Palace also going to take Gallagher on loan. So that rules them out of Brewster loan.

Newcastle just signed Wilson. Villa wanting King after Watkins.

Opening up for us.
