Rhian Brewster: bargain

The build up to the goal was sublime, quick passing that any Premier League pundits would be creaming themselves over. Fair play to Brewster he has a few seconds of Billy Sharp in him to be in the right place, right time. A proper poachers finish and just what we need

winner couldnt have fell to a more deserving player. brewster has alot of critics some of them deserved at times & my niece jokes that im in a 1 person fan club with Brewster 😁

but despite all the bad luck & everytime he hits form, he picks up an injuryhehia work rate is never questioned. he always gives 100% & never gives up. glad that was rewarded. & in words of ted lasso as thats returning for series 4

“Fairy tales do not start, nor do they end, at the dark forest. That’s only something that shows up smack dab in the middle of the story, but it will all work out. It may not work out how you think it will or how you hope it does. But believe me, it will all work out, exactly as it’s supposed to.”
Trust me you are not the only member of the Brewster fan club.

So chugged for Rhian... Nobody can ever question his desire and determination to get back playing and some of the abuse he's received from so called 'fans' has been disappointing to put it very lightly.

Any blades played that pulls on the shirt and gives 100% will always get my full support.

As mentioned before, Didzy - who perhaps knows a thing or two about football - said about Brewster a few years ago : “I see him in training and, trust me, there’s not a better finisher I’ve seen at 20 years of age.” and “He will be a massive success, there is no doubt about that.” And Brewster was continually selected as the best English U21 striker, so other well respected coaches rated him.

Please please let this season be a turning point for him!

Think Brewster’s finishing is more about instinct instead of technical ability and composure.

My issue is that when he has a chance…..with just the goalie to beat…..he ALWAYS goes for power.
Think back to the BBD goal against Boro when he calmly dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper.
That was a class finish….there’s no way Brewster could score a goal like that.
Campbells goal at home to Bristol City….again a class finish…..calmly passing the ball just inside the post.

Remember the cup game home to Wrexham. The ball fell to Brewster near the penalty spot.
He had a choice regards side footing it into either corner but instead blasted it straight at the keeper.

A little later we were awarded a penalty, a dead ball from the spot.
Again poor technique instead of calmly slotting it into the corner, he just blasted it very close to the keeper for an easy save.
That’s the type of penalty a central defender like Jack Robinson would take.

In Campbells early games, he was unfit, low on confidence coming back from injury
but you could see his technique was good and and he generally got his shot on target or very close to the target every time.
Sometimes Brewsters shots have been nearer the corner flag and he’s been…. at best league 1 standard.

However in recent months he’s definitely improved and now showing signs he might become average Championship standard…so he’s worth a place in the team.
He also has a great attitude, popular and a good guy to have around the club, he’s also versatile.
Agree with Wilder, he’s not a striker but is decent with his build up play…he is an all round good footballer
so will make a good sub/ squad player able to play as attacking midfielder, winger, support striker or striker.

The big issue is that he’s likely to be an asset as a good squad player/ impact sub at Championship level
But should be out of his depth in the PL……however if and when we’re relegated back to the Championship then Brewster will likely be worth keeping.
I’m on the fence regards keeping him….I like him so would like his to stay…he has that Sidie Peck, Baldock, Sharp, Arblaster love for the club
So I’ll always support anyone who gives 100% but the club needs to be professional….so I’ll be happy what ever is decided.

You may well be right that Brewster is more a blaster (perhaps more like Ched was) rather than a calm finisher (and BBD's finish was sublime). However, trying to maintain an optimistic line, it takes a confident striker to lift the ball over the keeper or pass the ball neatly into the corner, and I wonder if his confidence has been pretty low over the past couple of years, such that if he did start to play and perform regularly, we may see a higher confidence level, resulting in an more accomplished finisher, But there again we may not!

FWIW, I would keep him, albeit presumably on less cash, as I don't think he's taken the Mickey with his injuries - indeed he seems desperate to play and is distraught when he suffers an injury - everyone at the club seems to love him, and according to better judges of a player than me, there may still be untapped potential. And how infuriating it would be if Ipswich or Bournemouth bought him and he suddenly burst into a goal scoring machine!!

But I appreciate I take happy pills, and that there are sound arguments to let him go and move on.

We'll keep him as Wilder is trying to justify the fee he paid. I'd give him a one year contract, with an option for another, he's OK as a squad player and we need a lot of signings to replace the amount of loan players we have, premiership or not next eason

I said at the start of the season he’d need 15+ goals including a hat trick against the pigs for me to change my view on him. He’s got 1/5 of the way to the first one and 1/3 of the way to the second one.

He’d still be gone for me but he’ll live on in my memory along with Akinbiyi, Allison and Lewis Buxton (og) as average to poor players who scored a winning goal in a Sheffield derby.

Nice kid but the 6/10’s this season when he’s played just don’t justify us keeping him given his past performance.

Good camparison between Brewster and Ched.

Ched was also quite underwhelming for most of his Sheff Utd career then started playing like a man on a mission/ superstar in the final months of his contract.

I’m on the fence regards Brewster, we’ll obviously offer him a much reduced wages but I’ll accept whatever we decide to do.

Ched was only good for us when he dropped to League 1. We bought him as a PL dropout.
