As mentioned before, Didzy - who perhaps knows a thing or two about football - said about Brewster a few years ago : “I see him in training and, trust me, there’s not a better finisher I’ve seen at 20 years of age.” and “He will be a massive success, there is no doubt about that.” And Brewster was continually selected as the best English U21 striker, so other well respected coaches rated him.
Please please let this season be a turning point for him!
Think Brewster’s finishing is more about instinct instead of technical ability and composure.
My issue is that when he has a chance…..with just the goalie to beat…..he ALWAYS goes for power.
Think back to the BBD goal against Boro when he calmly dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper.
That was a class finish….there’s no way Brewster could score a goal like that.
Campbells goal at home to Bristol City….again a class finish…..calmly passing the ball just inside the post.
Remember the cup game home to Wrexham. The ball fell to Brewster near the penalty spot.
He had a choice regards side footing it into either corner but instead blasted it straight at the keeper.
A little later we were awarded a penalty, a dead ball from the spot.
Again poor technique instead of calmly slotting it into the corner, he just blasted it very close to the keeper for an easy save.
That’s the type of penalty a central defender like Jack Robinson would take.
In Campbells early games, he was unfit, low on confidence coming back from injury
but you could see his technique was good and and he generally got his shot on target or very close to the target every time.
Sometimes Brewsters shots have been nearer the corner flag and he’s been…. at best league 1 standard.
However in recent months he’s definitely improved and now showing signs he might become average Championship standard…so he’s worth a place in the team.
He also has a great attitude, popular and a good guy to have around the club, he’s also versatile.
Agree with Wilder, he’s not a striker but is decent with his build up play…he is an all round good footballer
so will make a good sub/ squad player able to play as attacking midfielder, winger, support striker or striker.
The big issue is that he’s likely to be an asset as a good squad player/ impact sub at Championship level
But should be out of his depth in the PL……however if and when we’re relegated back to the Championship then Brewster will likely be worth keeping.
I’m on the fence regards keeping him….I like him so would like his to stay…he has that Sidie Peck, Baldock, Sharp, Arblaster love for the club
So I’ll always support anyone who gives 100% but the club needs to be professional….so I’ll be happy what ever is decided.
