What's the betting that if Coventry get through to the semi-finals, about 25,000 of them turn out from under a stone, with all whistles being left at home?

Absolute guaranteed sure on there 1st game back after them seasons spent at northampton it was an absolute sell out & yet now they can barely fill a stand

Just watching sky sports news & EFL trophy quarter final draw had just been made, like i guess the majority of us competition completely past me by especially as its got the coverage it deserves with no Radio or TV coverage. looking at the teams left in competition, the football league must be crapping themselves about what attendance they could get for their Wembley final especially if Cheltenham beat Bradford as then only 3 of the teams left in the competition wouldve an average attendance of above 3700. football league are used to huge crowds & a big money spinner, just look some of crowds last decade

So wonder what it would be if Swansea U21 play Cheltenham in the final ?

An apology from the football league chairman for cocking up a perfectly good tournament :p

Seriously id guess at a 15/18000 crowd & possible 35,000 tickets revenue lost compared to other yrs

I would love to see a boycott of the final of this woeful competition but for players families and staff. unless there is an all development squad final the lesser teams would love a day out at wembley.

This is what's happening with all Cup competitions
They are trying to push ahead with the rule that takes the 4 qualifiers from the German, English, Spanish & Italian Leagues and promote them straight into the Group stages of the Champions League meaning every other club has to battle it out for the privilege of meeting them.

This will ensure that none of them get put out in the early stages and all of them benefit from the mega millions every single season.

Won't be long before they ruin the FA Cup as well
The 16 best placed Premier League teams from the season before all go into the last 32 and get a home draw against the rest that battle through

I gave up on that when it stopped being the European Champions Cup.

Does anyone really want to watch Real vs Manure on rotation every other week?

thought they hadnt met much

now arsenal bayern , thats every other year

League 1 & 2 clubs have voted to keep the current format & retain invited under-21 teams in next seasons Checkatrade Trophy. i am right in thinking that, despite promotion we could still be in this trophy next season but with u21s instead of senior team. considering 6 championship clubs were invited because of amount of PL rejections

Why the fuck have they voted to keep as is ?
Are they fucking mental ?

probably yes :D

or premier league chucked more money there way to change their mind, i said last year that i could see idea had some value as the Top 6 academies have bigger budgets than some L1 & L2 sides but it should have been scrapped as soon as Man Utd Man City Liverpool Arsenal & Tottenham said no thanks to be replaced by Blackburn (awkwardly) Brighton Derby Norwich Reading & wolves. as for likes of us to possibly have to play championship u21 is degrading

Was at an EFL meeting a while back where they skirted over the criticism, ignored the perception and irony of the fines and basically left it at 'the clubs will decide'. They effectively stopped taking questions as it was 'difficult to answer every question and keep to the intended format'

The overriding official EFL opinion seemed to be that it was a success as 'more clubs received prize money' and the final was due to be 'very well attended'.

its almost certaintly money related as ive just seen on sky sports news that premier league have increased the prize money 6 times, as final year of JPT it was £478,000 next season will be £3m

So can we enter an U21s side next season?

What's point having the U21 teams in it, when they only have to play 6 players u21

If im correct dont we have a catagory 1 academy. So when the big 6 all decline like they did last season & they have to ask championship club with cat 1 academies to take their place

Can see Coventry taking 50,000 to Wembley with fans weeping for joy as they win for a second straight year. Their relegation to the Conference will be sad though.

Shame, it would have been good experience for our lads.

Any football leauge team , that has to play another teams Reserves/u23/u21/development squad or whatever trumped up term you call them , is a disgraceful situation , stripping the lower division club of any Dignity , no excitment whatsoever in beating another teams reserves , whether it is at Wembley or Brackenmoor .

Does anybody know whether SUFC were involved in the voting process (on account of us no longer being bad enough to take part) and if so was the club in favour of the competition in general and the changes now in place?

I think we should enter next year and play our first team. We would make history by being the first club to be fined for playing an under strength team one year and an over strength team the following season.
