McBurnie and McGoldrick.
The partnership that I really didn't see working as they both like to drop deep, as much as I like them individually.
Well I think me and anyone else who doubted it can admit we were wrong. It's probably the best partnership we've seen so far (as much as I'd like to see Oli/Lys) and has made us a much more dangerous team as a unit.
McBurnie is still winning all the headers but now people are getting around him, and I think that's because Didsy is up there so players know there's always going to be someone up there to help retain the ball. So they don't feel it's as much of a risk getting upfield and that we won't get countered as easily as when it's Billy with him (sorry Bill). It makes us a much more effective unit and doesn't look like aimless, isolating long ball when McBurnie and Sharp are partnered up top.
Also you've got the most important cog in the whole attacking unit... David f**king McGoldrick. So much more than just a link up man, he's big and strong, he's agile, so good positionally, and has all the flair in the world. And I'm so glad he's scored.
Not just them though, I think the birth of the real Sander Berge has helped as he's just a more intelligent footballer than Lunny, and the freshness of Ben Osborn with his intense pressing. As hard as it is to leave Fleck out for the last 3 imo we have to.
Didsy - brilliant as always in most games this season outside the box, but I must admit I just had a feeling he'd never score in this division. It was going to take one going in off his arse for him to get his first, and it almost was! But let's see if he can go on a run now with a bit of confidence, I don't doubt it.
I always backed McBurnie and even when the chips were down I stuck my head above the parapet because I saw what he was against us and so many other Championship sides the 2 years prior. The stick he's got despite getting absolutely no service has been proper shit, it's never been a lack of effort.
Anyway, thank fuck this has fallen into place - just in the nick of time.
