Player Suggestion Replacements for Murphy?

chris burke at forrest add clayton donaldson peltier at cardiff or the lad at colchester or goldson at shrewsbury and a left back and martinez at arsenal the gk he was excellent for rotherham on loan last season
 
Nathan Byrne would be great but he won't leave Swindon. Che Adams is an amazing player so him on Byrne on a wing each would be amazing.
 
I've just contributed a thread on Blades Mad on this very topic. The encouraging thing is the management have alluded to having options lined up, the bad thing is we are missing out on a range of possible targets for a variety (and sometimes circumstantial, understandable) reasons, but we do need to get our finger out.

Nathan Byrne is set to be the target of a £1m bid from Burnley. So that's us out of the contest for that one then, as if we were ever really in it! Can we compete with that fee? Maybe, if the Murphy fee is there to be spent (but we've been told that before). Can we compete with that level of football, no - not at present.

We need a Murphy replacement, and fast. That side on Saturday looked effective going forward but Scougall and Reed were the weak links on the right, they aren't natural wingers. That side with Murphy and Adams would be devastating in L1. That's not to say we don't have defensive frailties, but that's a discussion for another thread.

Other options? Flynn will add to this when back, I rate him. Cuvelier will be useful, when fit - I rate him too. But we need someone now. Who else?
Well we've missed out on:

1. Josh Ginnelly - left Shrewsbury for Burnley (what an exciting midfield they're building!). Would've been perfect for us.
2. Sheyji Ojo - left liverpool on loan to Wolves. Again, the opportunity of Championship football is hitting us hard here, some excellent talents to be picked. Increases my fear that Adams will be off soon, as he is on a par with all these, if a little bit more raw around the edges! What a side Wolves are building, I'd tip them for AT LEAST playoffs. Coady, McDonald, Ojo in the same midfield? Wow.
3. Jacob Murphy would've been ideal. He played that role at Colchester on loan from Norwich last season. Fearless runner, like our Che. He's just gone to Coventry to bolster a front line that's already been impressive in these early games. We should've gone in for him if we were missing out on the others, including Byrne. He's likely to be available permanently, he's not going to be getting a game at Norwich anytime soon.

What's on yer drawing board, Nige? There's needs to be a plan...
 
What I will say is that the options are out there, we've just missed out on a few of late. If we are willing to cherry pick other L1 sides, or rising talent in L2 - it could make a real difference and they'd bring a hunger through (without wanting to sound egotistical) wanting to play for a big club. Something which players dropping a division don't necessarily have,
 
Think it might be a busy transfer window deadline day! I fully expect us to go down the loan market route if we don't get anybody in permanently. I don't have a problem with that as long as they are future proof players (i.e. could step up to championship level i.e. Antonio when the snorts got him).
 

Whilever Scougall is playing on the wing we're playing with 10.
Woolford looked good in his 15 mins the other day, but wouldn't fancy him over 90 just yet.

Dack has to be an option. Carayol linked would be a risk worth taking.
Understand Byrne is pie in the sky if Burnley are sniffing.

A few I'd look at would be:
Harry Forrester at Donny
Liam Feeney at cash strapped Bolton
Adam Hammill at Huddersfield
John O'Sullivan at Blackburn
 
Jamie Paterson is another available on loan and has been linked with Wigan. He'd be a good signing. We should get Cuvelier to have a word.

2 million what, Rupees?
Apart from the knack of popping up to score the odd goal, the lad offers nowt, even at our level.
Even Michael O Halloran looks a player up there :eek:

We played him in the centre of midfield out on the wing he would have been far better (like the position hes playing for Rangers now!) he'll be a decent midfielder soon and imo someone we should have signed
 
I'd be delighted with Byrne (unrealistic though IMO). I'd also be pleased with Dack or Carayol.

Was Adams on the left wing for Murphy and he got both goals the replacement is already at the club its Adams he was deadly on the left wing the other day
