Wilder was quoted some time ago that now we had completed our transfer business he expected new contracts to be awarded to the likes of Sharp, Fleck, O’Connell and possibly Coutts, ( he never mentioned Coutts by name).
He said that the fine details were being sorted by the board and he expected things to be announced soon.
The fact that we have heard nothing infers that agreement has not been reached.
Other than the obvious we are trying to do things on the cheap and nothing can be agreed until the ownership issue is resolved; has anyone any thoughts / information on the delay?

Coutts showed glimpses of being further forward in his rehab on Saturday.

No doubt it helped that, for the very first time since returning, he was allowed to play his own role with the two players he excelled with previously.

Trying to judge him on playing alongside Norwood for 15 minutes here and there and not offering him a new contract would be absolutely stupid.

I think the problem will be him not wanting to stay, which would be understandable.

Fleck and OConnell need to be sorted.

If we go up Sharp and Coutts would be surplus to requirements really so maybe wait a little.

That’s it let’s write Sharp off already during a season which he’s played the best football of his life and helped fire us up to second.

Just like half the fan base wrote him off when we got promoted to the championship.

Since last being written off he’s scored about 40 goals since promotion, what the fuck has he actually got to do to deserve some premisership game time at his boyhood club (if we do go up)

He’s been one of the main driving forces dragging us out of the depression of league1. He’s a fucking hero in my opinion, not serplus to requirements.

We should look after him as much as we can, gradually phase him out as he gets older and then if he fancies it give him a coaching role to go on and coach future England strikers coming out the academy. Who better to learn from.

Logic suggests Sharp would be surplus to requirements
But Wilder and his players keep proving me wrong, so making logical judgements is unwise.

It seems impossible that Sharp Van Nistlerooy is now performing at his best in his whole career, talk about having an Indian Summer.
With Wilder in charge ANYTHING seems possible.

A very enjoyable last 25 minutes where the Holy Trinity worked the ball quickly on Saturday. Move of the match when they set up Hogan shame it didn't go in. No brainer for me if Norwood is suspended pick the three of them then we will see if Coutts is back up to the levels he was last season.

Logic suggests no such thing. Billy Sharp is the second top goalscorer in the Championship.

I thought the three players in negotiations were O'Connell, Stevens and Sharp?

I have to assume you're joking/trolling.

I see what he's trying to say, and I agree.

Logically an outfield player who is 33, and spent most of his career at championship level (or lower) probabaly isn't suitable for PL level.

However, Sharp seems to be defying convention, by being so prolific at this stage in his career, meaning there's no reason to write Sharp off.

I think of all our strikers, Sharp is the most suited to the PL, in fact - it's key you take your chances at that level, as they're few and far between - Sharp wrote the book on taking chances.

This.

Age didn’t stop Kevin Phillips did it.

I've seen enough of Billy Sharp over the years to be able to say with some confidence that, with service, he'll score goals in any league and at any level until the day he retires.

It's an absolute travesty (although to United's benefit) that he's never been given a proper crack in The Premiership in his career.

Agree, seems weird that Southampton bought him but hardly played him the first team. Wikipedia says he played 2 matches in 2 years at the Saints. Did they have a manager change?
Seems weird that he was virtually frozen out as though he’d had a fall out with the manager.

Yes, Adkins was famously removed and replaced when Southampton were still doing well but Sharp has been loaned out long before that. He was a sub in a couple of games that August and then headed to Forest on a season loan. Presumably at that time Sharp fancied regular football in the league below rather than occasional sub appearances in the Prem. Which is fair enough.

Sharp has signed a new 2 and a half year contract and it will be announced tomorrow.
