Bloody heck makes me feel sad 3 of them gone. Only 13 years ago.

Don't remember exactly which was my first game but Everton at home in 73/74 is a strong contender. What I do remember is that I was in the John Street stand with my late big bro - he was still alive then though! I mean who goes to games with a ghost! 😱

What I do remember is the sense of awe I had at my first big match. I also ditched John St and my bro for the Kop shortly after but I'll always be grateful to him for introducing me to the Blades and sparking this life long passion for the red, white and black.

My dad said my first match was against Blackpool. I asked him "What was the score?". "4-1 to United, you cheered Blackpool's goal", he said. Years later I looked for the 4-1 score in Clareborough's book but found that we didnt beat Blackpool 4-1 in the 1960s so I questioned my dad. His response was "I cant remember!". Maybe my first match was the same as yours and I must have cheered Blackpool's winner! 🤷‍♂️
Alan Ball and Jimmy Armfield played for Blackpool, a few months before winning World Cup medals, although Ball had gone to Everton by then and George Cohen took Armfield’s place in the England XI.

I came to Sheffield Uni in October 1971 and probably saw my first game at Bramall Lane later that month. I can't remember who we were playing against but I do remember who accompanied me to the game. I shall be meeting him for a meal at Zeugma before the match tomorrow - something I've missed doing for the last 18 months. Feeling a bit giddy about the football as well :)
I started at the uni in October 1971 too. What were you studying?

First game
1995/1996Sat 04 MaySheffield United1 - 1Port Vale

5 years old, I can't remember the game really but I remember being in awe of how big Bramall Lane was (any football stadium would have seemed big)

Now:
Excited, highish expectations as I feel we've got a really good team that missed the fans more than any other team. The same squad apart from O’Connell missing managed to finish top 10 in the prem.

I spent my first year living in Ranmoor House. I studied dentistry. How about you?
I did history from 71-74 so 50th anniversary coming up soon. I’m from Attercliffe but my parents moved away. Couldn’t wait to get back and as it turned out, 1971 and the following few seasons were great years for the Blades with TC at his best. I even got to interview him for the student newspaper.

Yes. It was a good time for me to start watching the Blades. A few ups and downs since though. Hopefully on the up again now.

I don't clearly remember my first game but I remember going to SUFC vs. Brighton in January 1987 for a snowy FA Cup 0-0 draw. Recently found out it was Chris Wilder's debut. I also remember us beating Portsmouth 2-1 one evening with both our goals being penalties, Peter Beagrie scoring a worldie (I thought it was good at the time anyway) in a 4-2 win over Hull/Bradford and I think a 2-1 win vs. Plymouth - think these were probably all around the same time.

My littlest girl's first game is today. Beyond excited to be back.

2005. Sheffield United vs Millwall, followed shortly after by trouncing Aston Villa 3-1 in the FA Cup.
Had poster of the Villa celebrations on my wall until I was too old to admit!

Dane Whitehouse penalty at Lane end?

My first game was actually at Hillsborough in1966 when Alan Birchenall put us 2 up in 20 mins (hence my membership name), only for Wednesday to come back to get a 2-2 draw. My first home game was the following week when we beat West Brom 4-3, with a brace from Woody. It was strange that West Brom played in all red that day, even though we had the red and white stripes on.

Think you're right actually. I think my trip to Hillsborough (family were all Wendies) was in the previous season on my birthday ( as a treat from my Owls Dad). The next match I went to was also at Hillsborough where Woody and Jones scored, followed by the West Brom match at The Lane (the WBA all-red kit sticks in my mind). So my first 2 live matches were at Hillsborough. Price you pay for a family full of Wendies. But I was only 7 at the time..

Sept 77 Home to Palace in the pen on the Kop lost 2-0 think they played in our away kit it if memory serves me right all the .. as a 9 yr old all the match excitement & anticipation only to lose ..seems to have indoctrinated me for a life of highs & lows following those lads in Red & White !

Stood on John Street terrace in front of white railings towards the away end.
Do you know I think that was mine I was only 7 and the old man finally gave in and took me
Put me down the front with the instruction of "don't move at the final whistle you little twat "
Funny I remember that but not the game 😅

yes it was march 66 2 - 2 draw and the game the next season in sept was a 2 - 2 as well was on the leppings lane end that day where we scored our 2 goals in the first 15 minutes also the day according to ronnie sharpe united fans launched hundreds of eggs down on the wednesday fans below them on the kop

Did anyone on here went to Jimmy Hagan’s benefit match in March 1958 ? That was my first match and all I can remember that night is the lights from cigarettes all around the ground !!
Well perhaps not all around as there would only have been three sides !

Burnley fans threw eggs at Blades fans when we lost 4-0 in the opening day of the season so that gave Blades fans the idea to do the same to Wendy fans a month later

First game was Palace 97 PO Final.

My first game at BDTBL was the first game of the following season vs Sunderland. Gorgeous weather, Deanos return, free flowing attacking football and an amazing atmosphere.

As a kid I did have an allegiance to the dark side and had been to the odd 🐷 game but there was no going back after my first visit to the Lane.
