Mr weir just been on ssn, we will be using what we have got,no plans to
Bring anyone from Everton. Down to players old and young to prove themselves.

Winter has said there will be movement in and out resulting in squad transition
It s obvious there will be players coming in especially up front probably not from Everton though

why is it obvious?? sounds like weir is being the honest one here, whilst winter hints at signings. winter also said we need to generate money to invest, now what could he mean by that i wonder??

Maybe he's just not getting the fans hopes up! Say no-one is coming in, then a couple do....nice surprise

Cresswell and Porter up front it is then, jeez fans will be kicking the gates down in their haste to watch such a pairing.

I must admit was not too inspired by what he said, doesn't sound like there are plans for
Many major changes in the team, unless of course someone comes in for harry or George

If we do not get any forwards in we will finish in the bottom half. It is that simple. this team has about 30 goals in it at the moment.

It is obvious we have let Kitson and Robson go Forte was a loan player, we are interested in Duffy and Boyd, there will be movement out of the club so we can bring in new players, we will not start the season with the same old faces

Whats Murphy going to do then ?

Play out on the wing.

Even though I think he should be playing as a striker.

Strikers playing out wide is the norm for us and we wonder why they do shit.

I think what he is doing is good, he is telling all the players that there is an opportunity for them to step up. I think you have had the wool pulled over your eyes if you don't think we won't get someone from Everton or Man Utd.

I know I am in the minority of 1, but I think with a couple of pacey players, one up front and one outwide we have a good team.

Improving our movement can be just as good as pace

Im in your minority but we also need to add a midfielder.

Our current side scored 7 goals in the last thirteen games, we cannot go into a new season with the existing strikeforce (minus Kitson).

I cannot believe we won't be recruiting 2 strikers or a striker and winger.

We'd be certain to get off to a bad start and we can't afford that.

I was hoping for John Lundstram from Everton who did well at Doncaster. I think Larnell Cole from Man Utd could either play in the centre or outwide and will be ready for a loan move this season.

I'm not sure what people expect Weir to say. Or whom supporters expect to come rolling through the gates.

There is no money. Simple as. We know that.

The manager's remit is to promote within. Is it really that much of a surprise?

If there was money, McCall would have been manager, but they gave him the budget on a blank piece of A4 and said that's what you've got to work with.

Fully agree with Sheffielder, getting players from clubs like Everton and Manchester United is wishful thinking, .......and even then there is no guarantee that they'll be any good (Cofie, anyone). In all due respect, there is a world of difference playing in the youth/Under 21s set up in the Premier/championship, than getting knocked to kingdom come at first team level in League 1.

Sitwell, I agree to an extent on the case for midfield. I think we need at least another 4 :D

I'm just hoping we can recapture that feel-good feeling of a winning team with a bright future.
Y'know, the feeling that was completely lost when the Evans verdict was announced.

If that's the case, another shit season awaits. The current squad is not good enough. Simple.

That's already happened the release of some and signing of contracts with others

Smoke and mirrors!:D

I haven't heard this but it runs contrary to every other public pronouncement DW has made.

Ideal chance to get to the bottom of it on Pig Radio tomorrow?

i cant believe we could go into the season with no new players. nevermind a poor season, we would get relegated. guaranteed.

give all the players a chance? fine. except we havent actually got any. well not a full team anyway. wouldnt get out the bottom 4 all season with the squad weve got right now. not having heard what he actually said i wont take it seriously.

Interview was at 5 to 4 yesterday. Just watched again as I taped it for other half. When asked if he would be fetching anyone in from Everton he said that is not his priority, the ones already here are and it's up to them to
Prove themselves. Bringing our own academy youngsters is his priority

Another shit season because he is not bring in anyone from Everton ?(even thou he hasn't actually said that ) Strange comment.

So,based on your comments on the interview, it isn't really 'relying on what we have'. He has said that his priority is the squad that is already here and getting them to prove them selves. Hardly a surprise and any new manager would say this.He didn't say there were no new players coming in from any club(including Everton)

So in essence, the title of this thread should be 'Weir to give players a chance to prove themselves first'

Just wondering why you have decided not to mention the following quote that he also made

"And I want to add to that, to get good players in and compliment the ones already here and that's a challenge because it's difficult, there's a lot of clubs looking for the same thing."

Puts a slightly different context on things don't you think ?

I think you dropped this.....
