Regan Slater

Would make some sense given that Peck will inevitably be sold in the summer. Contract expires in the summer, so would join on a free and he's a Blade. I'd certainly take him, been very good for Hull this season.

"Flourished: since he left says it all ....
.stay where you are Regan....

.

Funny to think a Ben Whiteman - Regan Slater midfield two would have significantly strengthened us this season

Anyone know if Tony Battersby, Graham Anthony and Steven Hawes are available for a comeback?

I wouldn’t say he’s been great at Hull. Few fans I worked with didn’t have many good things to say about him.

Puts a shift in but technically limited.

Like most of our young players, not given a sniff......until needs must, like this season.
It's the Blades way.
What about last year where brooks, peck, blaster etc? Total nonsense. He wasn't ever premier league quality. Negativity for the sake of having a pop at the club. Just weird.

We were one of if not the, youngest side in the whole league last year 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷‍♂️

As a squad option on a free it could be an ok signing.

Considering there is lots of talk we could sell Peck, Tom Davies probably gets released and we’ve not heard how that preliminary contract talk went with Gus. Soumaré and Philips will likely go back to their parent clubs.

Id be a little disappointed if he was out marquee midfield signing but as a body in a 5/6 man selection he’d be fine.

So you didn't read the " Until needs must" not having a pop, it's pretty well known.

Really? Ndiaye, RND, Osula and jebbison in seasons before breaking through and playing at least 19 games. That's with promotions and premier league money. It's pretty well known? Plenty of young loans too where premier league sides trust us with young players.

Yup, only have to look at One as a prime example.

Slater is having an ok season in a side going well. Statistically however, he’s not even in the top 50% of players in the same position.

For arguments sake, let’s say every team has at least 1 defensive midfield in their 11. Statistically, Slater is performing at about 13th best in the league.

If we have serious considerations of wanting to be promoted from this division, we need to be looking at better players.

you know what his credentials are and why he's been “scouted”. Begins with a G and ends in errrimAllBack

Whats Whiteman's ? Surely higher than 13th. Rather him if we're wanting ex Blades.

Correct mate, Slaters on the way down not up.

He's a good player and I would never have sold him

But the move away has been good for him, he's now very established at that level

And so are we. So now would be a natural time for him to come back, and I think he'll want to, owing to his Bladeness

It would make a lot of sense on a free

This popped up elsewhere, and I'll say what I said there here - do not buy bang average (or, for that matter, even good) Championship players over the age of about 24 unless they have very good upside. It's a huge resource leak and something we need to stop doing immediately

We need fewer small midfielders. Wilder signed another small unathletic midfielder in Rothwell recently.
We can now field 5 or 6 central midfielders who aren’t tall or strong or mobile.
Modern football requires the opposite. It’s frustrating that we keep doing it.

He's about as average a footballer you get at this level. A Jamie Shackleton without injuries.
Well, if you're going to sign an average players you want them to:

Be available
Be fit
Be a decent age
Be versatile
Want to play for the club
Be available on a free or cheap

And he's all of those

He'd be an excellent pickup
