Slav hasn't even managed Utd in a single game yet and is being questioned by Daddy who thinks that his little lad isn't going to get a chance... Daddy doesnt come across as the sharpest tool in the box.

Yeah that’s not a good look and a bit out of order to drag the other 2 young lads into it who he has no connection to. Whilst skater may not ever play consistent first team football for United which is a shame for a life long blade that’s football. United have helped to develop his son into a professional footballer and the worst case scenario is that he leaves United this summer for hull and goes on to make a career as a professional footballer. Other than rehab not playing every single minute of preseason I’m not sure what he wants.

There’s a pathway there for slater. We currently have about 3 midfielders….

Maybe not so much under wilder but previously if players have been up to it they have had opportunities to play. Huge list of players from our academy who have represented the first team. And Slav popped sessiognon and Elliot in when they were dead young didn’t he??

slater sounded like he came on for hull towards the end of the season from reports… buckle down and try and made an impact. We’d love nothing more than to save spending money if he replaced a signing but he has to provide he’s good enough to start to be honest.

"Only Sharp has been given a chance".

Slater is 21, when did he expect him to play? Last 2 seasons in PL or as an 18yr old in a promotion season 🤔
Slater has been given 45 mins in the first warm up and 23 in the second. He's played as much as anyone not an established first teamer.

112 mins (45 against Europa Point, 67 against Doncaster)
Baldock, Egan, Norwood, McGoldrick, Robinson, Osborn

90 mins (45 in each)
Basham, Foderingham, Mousset, Brewster

68 mins (45 against EP, 23 against Doncaster)
Lowe, Freeman, Slater, Jebbison, Gordon, Lopata

67 mins
Burke, Fleck (all against Doncaster)

57 mins
Bogle (45 against EP, 12 against Doncaster)

56 mins
Seriki (45 against EP, 11 against Doncaster)

46 mins
Brunt (23 mins in each game)

45 mins
Eastwood, Norrington-Davis, Smith (all against EP); Ramsdale, Berge (all against Doncaster)

22 mins
Broadbent (against EP)

Is Regan really that good anyway? Surely he would have had a chance by now if he was.....get a couple of mil for him with a 15% sell on and him and his Dad can piss off to Hull....and presumably as he was no where near the squad for the Carlisle game, (unless he was injured?) then it looks on the cards anyway...

He’ll probably become a good Championship holding midfielder. I think the legitimate question is can he be more than that, which is where our ambitions lie? I’d have liked to see a loan to Hull for this season to see how good he can be at this level but seemingly that’s not the plan. His contract is due so we can’t loan without an extension and if he won’t sign then that’s entirely his choice GLTTL.

Was heralded as the best youth player in Sheffield at the time young hirst was coming through for Wednesday and that assessment would seem to be correct as slater looks the more likely to have a solid professional career. As bob says slater looks solid but probably doesn’t have the upside to play at the very top.

He's a decent youth, IMO, but the next crop emerging now are all that much better or more promising and a couple of years younger.

Reed was moved on to make way for slater which looking at the two seems the correct decision and now slater will be moved on to make way for brunt/Maguire which again will hopefully be the correct decision.
