I didn’t think he was that bad but we were on the wrong side of a number of big calls. He missed the fist half flattening in the penalty area and blatant shove on Ogbene but his Lino should have helped him out there.
Good Ref's get the big calls right, that's the difference

But correct decision to disallow Peck’s late ‘goal’ - deffo foul on the keeper. We would have been fuming if that had been the other way round and had been allowed.
How many times do you see similar that are not given, primarily due to the fact that cannon did not stop the keeper from getting to the ball

Its consistency though isn't it. Arsenal push and shove every game at corners. Might be right but make it fair.

In hindsight maybe he was consistently shit, they did a lot of blatant pushing in the back but so did burrows.

The foul on Ogbene was a stonewall red. It was just outside the box I think, but it was a blatant push, denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity and absolutely no attempt to play the ball so would have been red even if inside.
It was a foul and a yellow, if that’s a red then ‘game’s gone’.

So we should have had 2 nailed on pens for the exact same thing on MM late on in th game. One more blatant than the other.

Although the keepr does have hold of cannon as well btw.

Taking off the blades glasses as it were, it was a clear penalty and Cooper didn’t look himself tonight. He had that too cool attitude in the 1st half where he nearly cocked up the back pass. The corner although harsh to say he could have done better, he barely reacted to the ball hitting the bar. Also with the penalty although he tried his best to stop himself it was a clear foul.

However that said if you are ruling out our equaliser for 2-2, you should be ruling out theirs for 1-1 as the screenshot shows how many Southampton players are holding ours from the initial corner is ridiculous and it is for the presumably the same reason

He is supposedly being fast tracked to premier league. He will do well there with the ego and the var to help him.

Game wise Southampton scored two good goals, tyrese should have scored second half, we looked better with two up top, but a good referee isn't noticed in the game and he was far too noticable. The decisions were odd from a blades persoective and also unnecessary but damaged a game of football regardless of the result , and made the game about a referee.
They scored 1, the other one was piss poor from Cooper.

It's bad enough only pacing 8 steps but when each step is only about 3/4 of a yard...
Full weight bellend
And he has an 18yd line and a 6yd line painted on the ground 12 yds apart to help him out.

From my seat on the kop it was obvious that the wall was a lot more than 2yds in front of the 6yd line.

We ALL saw this. How can he possibly get away with that being a professional ref!?

I recon that it was all fixed tbh. Someone payed that ref off. That pen was very questionable. Booked Mee for a brilliant slide tackle too.
Not only did he doe that, when he recounted he set off with a big step then corrected his step to take smaller ones to try and make himself right, unbelievable.

I'm not saying the ref was cheating, but if he wanted to make it look like he was, he couldn't have done a better job. 6 Yard box. 12 yard penalty spot. 18 yard box. Free kick, just outside 18 yard box, means the wall should be around 9 yards from goal. It was only just behind the spot. About 8 yards from the ball. Coincidentally, that's the number of paces he took. It's all there in the video. He needs sanctioning.

The other question all this begs, yet again, is ‘What is the point of linesmen?’

The useless article running the South Stand touch tonight had a first class view of, among other incidents, the Mee tackle, the foul on Ogbene, the 8 yard wall, etc.

The buggers are all mic’d up and in contact with each other. Why wasn’t he in the refs ear about these and other incidents, offering a view?

Waste of space. Pathetic.

The ref is either corrupt or incompetent. It's one or the other.

O"Hare literally walked the yards for him.

What you can’t see with the penalty unless you were bang in line was how Cooper pulled out and the striker slowed down and slightly changed direction to initiate a collision. The ref bought it

With the way the ref was acting tonight he may as well have given Soton a 1-0 head start.

I try not to lean into the Warnockesque blame the ref game but he was the shittest ref I have seen in a good while at this level. People say he was shit for both teams but most of the decisions against them were hardly game changing decisions.

How many times did he blow his whistle in both boxes and award a free kick to Southampton? I’d love to know the stats
