Reda Khadra

I expected Hecky to play Sharp up front on his own with illy and Khadra as two number tens which also have them the opportunity to support the midfield. As it turned out Khadra was like a spare part although he did not help himself as yet again, every time he received the ball he gave it them back.

If Iliman is fit he has to start. Without him I can see only one outcome Saturday. We have noone who can spark us bar him. Saturday is the biggest game of the season. Win it by 2 and we go above Burnley. Lose and they move further away. The psychological boost of a win would be huge. The opposite applies.

So do you know something I don't?

Should I be lumping it on the Millers tonight?

Blackburn Rovers fan gives the overall opinion on Khadra based on what Rovers supporters saw last season at Ewood Park

No. My summation was based on a status quo Saturday. Obviously I am prone and supplicating in the hope of a Millers victory.

Khadra is either an asset or a liability. Without giving him a run in a position that brings out the best in him we will never know.
The manager sought him. He appears to want him to bring things to the table others can't.
Therefore play him in a position that allows him to do that.
The only role I can see him being of value is behind McB and Ilian.
He has to be given a few games to know.

And after a few games of us playing shit and getting beat do we consider that to be a worthwhile experiment ?

Funny thing is there seems to be half a dozen posters convinced that khadra needs to play in his best position but they all seem to have differing opinions on where that is

Funny thing thing is I just said what I think. Thanks for your contribution.

I think he'll come good and have a cracking career, just not with us

Heard this so many times over the years about various players.

Maybe sometimes we should look at ourselves.

Fwiw I think his best position would be a wide forward in a front 3 probably from the left. A role we will never or very rarely have available with our formation and setup.

I'd like to see a front 3 with Khadra and Ndiaye as wide forwards and Mcburnie in the middle. Norwood and Doyle in Midfield

The Millers will never be as unlucky as they were last night. Sadly my cheeky bet went down!
I was hoping for a Millers win too.
Sadly, Burnley are becoming a stronger side, but they still needed about half an hour to rescue 3 points.

Makes it harder to be positive about Saturday.

Some players just don't fit at certain clubs, in certain systems or under certain managers.

For every Khadra, Britton, DCL there is also a Basham, Clarke or McGoldrick.

Nowt we need to examine, it's just football

It took Thierry Henry about 6 Months to get properly going at Arsenal and he came in from Juventus.

Khadra has played just 357 league minutes in a Blades shirt. I.e. less than 4 full matches. His average minutes per appearance has been just over half an hour.

A fifth of that time has him basically taking one for the team playing left wing back.

He’s been given 4 starts in almost 4 months. He’s not been given 2 consecutive starts all season.

It’s way too early to be judging a player who, even when playing well, plays in a role that naturally is inconsistent given no winger beats the fullback every single time.

It might just take him longer to settle. He’s an option. He’s not the only one. But he’s had no chance to get settled in the team at all.

Fully agree

Well said

Henry just didnt score in those 6 months until wenger switched his position ,he could still control a ball and complete a pass

The reason hes had limited minutes is because hes been hooked every time hes started

The left wing back thing is disingenous ,he replaced the left wing back but was given a role so far up the pitch he was to all intents and purposes a winger

Hope youre right about him needing time to settle but he already looks to me like his heads gone

It was a bit half arsed that Birmingham line up. Difficult for him to get any momentum when he’s not getting a run of games. Though I do concur it is a little bit chicken/egg. If he tore it up then the rest sorts itself out. Just in terms of minutes it’s hardly a good sample size yet to evaluate. He was very good for Blackburn at the Lane. Don’t recall if he played the full match.

He’s a liability for giving the ball away. That might not matter if we’re in control but the other night we just couldn’t afford it.

🎙️PH on what Khadra had on his toast this morning

🎙️ PH on Khadras choice of interior in his Range Rover

🎙️ PH on Khadras missus; "8 out of 10"

Well , I have read that PH explanation of why he set up with only 2 in midfield - one of whom was Fleck whom he knew would struggle - and it gives me great concern for his logic.
Christ on a bicycle , if you know one of your midfielders is gonna struggle , you don't go from 3 in midfield to just 2.
Then , what happens ?
"Oh my goodness , we are unable to attack coz we've conceded the midfield to the opposition"
"So now I better put 3 in midfield coz I've just realised that Fleck is a traffic cone"
Kinell Hecky , I like you but get a grip of yourself mate

I think Hecky explains it quite well that sometimes it is just not on playing as attacking as that. He hoped we'd make it work vs Bristol City, but we were too weak in midfield; in fact too weak in general, poor in possession, too few that took responsibility on and off the ball. As I watched the game I kept wondering what it's going to take to make it work for us. When it's difficult to get things going, to find rhythm, it's so difficult if you aren't able to compete in midfield. Norwood and Fleck, with Duffy in front and a confident back five behind them, were able to do that, but at this stage it's not on. The so-called flat midfield (three) is probably a necessity at the moment.

The player has distinctive pace and a decent record when it comes to finishing. I was pleased when he signed on loan for us at the start of this season.
However, his style of play and ability to adapt those skills to the clubs style of play has limited his starting opportunities.
It is a fact that his preferred starting position is bettered by a number of players who are more adaptable and skillful than he is.
Given his personal style of play and a lack of flexibility, he is not likely to dictate changes to the clubs overall approach to the game. (Any version of 5-3-2).

He needs to understand that football at most levels is a team/squad game, and he needs to adapt to fit in, not the other way around. He may or may not get the opportunity to show his undoubted skills over the next half of the season.
Unless he can adapt his game, he is unlikely to feature outside his best opportunities, which remain coming on as a sub, late on, so his pace and finishing skills can expose a tiring defence.

He has his place in the squad and it’s up to him to exploit that. Until now, he has only done that once, against Swansea.
