Before their first red card there was a route one ball (I think by norwood) over the top which baldock ran on to and looked to be tripped as he was through one on one with the keeper, my first reaction was that it was a blatant straight red but ref didn't even give a free kick. I sit on the kop so had a pretty shit view of it, anyone sat with a better view see what happened and if anything should have been given? Also there was a studs up challenge on McAttee people have mentioned, I didn't notice in game but anyone get a good view of that? I assume the baldock one I probably just missaw since it doesn't seem to be in any of the highlights, can't see the McAtee one in there either.

My lad watched the game live and said baldrick was fouled before their red in the same way.
The one on mcatee was very sly and naughty.

Sky commentator (Hendrie?) kept repeating Neil was very lucky not to be sent off for the Baldock one - he reckoned ref might have been lenient as it was so early in the game.

He also thought the Mcatee one should have been a red.

If you watch the behind the blades video there is the nasty clip on the back of Berge's leg as well in the 2nd half.

They can bitch about the ref all they want but they should be thanking him for not sending more of their players off.

In other words, he is correctly calling the ref inconsistent

I think the Baldock one was minimal contact and his touch was loose enough that most refs are going to let it go. Not saying they should, but they do.

If VAR had been in use, they’d have both been reds. The tackle on McAtee was assault, he’s lucky he’s not got an injury from that, in old money that was a “leg breaker”.

Yeah, that was borderline too. If the ref had given a red, and we had VAR, I don’t think they’d have overturned it.

I think it was incompetence more than lenience because he didn't even give a free kick, if he saw it but thought baldock had no chance of scoring from it and gave only a yellow or a free kick it would be understandable. I feel like he must have completely missed it, which is poor considering I saw it from the kop.

Watching on TV and even with all the replays I didn’t think the Baldock one was a foul. Just because someone touches you it isn’t necessarily a foul and he went down REALLY easily. In fact I think Baldock does that quite a lot. The ball was also going quite far away from goal.

The one on McAtee was a proper shocker though. 100% a red card.

The new directive is to not give free kicks every time a player falls over, that there has to be sufficient contact to actually bring someone down. In real time, the ref got it wrong and replays showed he’d clipped Baldock. It’s annoying but I’d rather the ref gets those wrong than blow up every time a player hits the deck. All this diving is spoiling the game.

I thought exactly the same to be fair, it looked to me like George knew what he was doing and extended his back leg further to make sure there was some contact, would be complaining if that was given against us.

To go a bit further on Baldock… it actually annoys me quite often that he goes down too easily in really promising situations. I reckon if he tried to stay upright a bit more often he would be a lot more dangerous.

Ben Mee just been sent off for Brentford for another potential leg breaker. Dirty twats.

Even funnier when Frank is going mad 🤣
