Unashamedly lifting this from Blades Mad

Will be a shame to spoil it on Sat....

Well, it'd be a shame to spoil it if the L and A columns exceed the W and F columns...

You'd be happy with a 0-0 draw then.

We were once winning 2-0 away and it started snowing. Ian St John was in the ear of the ref all the first half and it was abandoned. Long way home with a bitter taste, the pitch was easily playable.

I remember Sarbs sticking one in at Highfield Road in the first match of the season.

We went on to lose 2-1, Tonge had a shocker.

That was 4th March 1972. That day I was at Wembley (my first time) watching the League Cup final between Stoke and Chelsea. No snow at all and I knew the Blades were winning 2-0 at half time thanks to the electronic scoreboard at Wembley. After full time it even announced that we had won 2-0. On the way home stopping at a service station I was surprised to find from a Saturday evening newspaper that our match was abandoned. I was at the re-arranged game, we lost 3-2 and TC had a good goal (which would have clinched a hat-trick) disallowed

I remember a game getting called off against Coventry through fog we went on the pay train
Stopped off at Alfreton on the way back as normal there was bollocks later on.

According to the 11v11 site Coventry have the edge. Looks like we have only beaten them once in the last 8 outings - time to put that right.

I was at the 1991 match at the old Highfield Road - think it was the last match of the season. Crap game 0-0.

On the way back to the coach park West Midlands finest were on top form. All Blades walking back to the coach park when the coppers started with the horses and police dogs. No trouble no Coventry fans but the police had to have their bit of fun and let the situation flare up where they were wading in with dogs and horses rearing up. Families with small kids herded into a car park as if it was an Old Firm riot.

No wonder the coppers get a bad name - fucking morons that day.

Seen it with them numerous times. Weapons Grade flanges the lot of em.

Went to one 0-0 at Coventry that was live on Sky in the early nineties, to this day the most boring football match I have witnessed.

There was a fire behind the stand they were rebuilding in some kind of MFI type shop and the smoke drifted onto the pitch. That was by far and away the most entertaining thing that happened.

31st October 1993. The last in a run of 4 draws. We then went on to draw 5 on the trot in March and I believe the 18 draws we got that season is a joint club record.

If only one of them had been turned into a win (or if only our last game had made it a definite record of 19 :-()

I went to the Coventry away game in 1975 on Good Friday, a week after the "quality goal" game against West Ham. Memorable for a brilliant last-minute chip by Woody from the edge of the box to make it 2-2.

An earlier game is shown here:

I would have listened to this game on Radio Hallam and there must have been some explanation given at the time but can anyone shed any light on why Currie's free-kick was disallowed? The ref definitely blows his whistle before he sticks it away.

Silent?

Remember Woody's last minute equaliser in 1975, he carried the ball to the left side, looked up, executed a lovely chip over Ramsbottom that hit the inside of the post and into the net. We were leading after a hour thanks to a Mick Speight goal but Coventry hit back with two quick goals (one of them was a header by John Craven)

TC's goal was disallowed cos the ref indicated an indirect free kick, you could see in the video that TC didnt notice the ref's signal indicating an indirect free kick

I should have spotted that.

But how could it have been indirect given that it was awarded for a clear trip on Bone?

It wasn't only Currie who didn't see the signal - the body language of all the Coventry players to a man is of a team that has just gone 2-1 down at home.

Yes, it should have been a direct free kick also the ref should have kept his arm up until the kick is taken (he put his arm down to tell the wall to move back and must have forgotten to put his arm up again). The match was John Harris' last as our manager
