Rebuild

He has been appointed for precisely this reason. He will do as he is told and not rock the boat.

Jokanovic wanted new players and said so repeatedly. Heckingbottom won’t do tha
He would truly be a 'mastermind' if he knew we were only signing one new player but went on tv and said the players he has to manage for the rest of the season aren't good enough.

Well there you go then, what you are saying is that we have a bunch of players who will down tools if they hear some body criticise them, refuse to give their best for our shirt,or show that they are worthy enough to wear any other when we show them the door.Maybe he already told them in private before the game yesterday.

Under this owner the rebuild will have to be done with free transfers and Academy players.

I said it when Hecky got the job but success for him during his tenure is to keep us out of League one over the next five years, he will have achieved a minor miracle if he does it,

The only way I think we avoid it over the next few season is if somehow we get new owners..

What I'm saying is, as it seems like it needs to be spelled out, is that any manager who publicly states their employees aren't good enough is not likely to get a positive reaction.

OK,so what we have to hope is that yesterday was a one off,or Hecky knows that he needs to rebuild but he just can't tell us yet because some players, who he doesn't even have to name, might stop trying their best.

Hecky will be given five years to keep us out of League One?
Not a likely scenario.
We should have gone for that bloke who went to Middlesbrough.

I know people will get fed up if we finish 10th -15th every season and I fully expect people to be calling for his head next Xmas if we are about 13th or 14th in the League

i won‘t be as I believe that is the very upper limit of what we can achieve under this potless ownership. If we are in the relegation places next Xmas then I probably would be calling for a change as it would need desperate measures to be taken.

Anyone expecting promotion or play off challenges any time soon need to temper their expectations it is just not feasible..

Not until we have survived relegation. Then I'd be happy if we got rid of pretty much everyone on free transfers.
I'm sure that this is the plan.

All of our recent recruitment has been to bolster the academy set up because it's the only way that we can restructure the business to be sustainable.

I certainly don't expect any great investment in this window and probably not a lot in the summer too.

Believe it or not Derby are showing us the way and if we can't do it at least as well, or better than them, then we are in for several years of famine.

With so called "failied Premiership signings" it's easy to say not to target on some failed wonder kid and when it doesn't work such as Brewster so far fingers as easily pointed. The player I like to use and we had him too is Phil Bardsley he left Man United as a "failed Premiership signing" after several loan clubs he has stabilised himself at Sunderland then Stoke before being a regular with Burnley in the Premiership. We can't rule out everyone we have to be better selective with any targets we go after. The same system being played at each age group should help the progression from U23s too.

I think your scenario is quite possible though as it's United we would probably go down again.
Hard to fathom how a club of our size should be so different from most other clubs who spend a couple of years in the Prem and look like going straight back or at least being very close to it.
You might remember the interview Bettis gave to Sky in July about the great shape we were in to mount a challenge to get straight back and the finances were all ship-shape.
It was cobblers and just another example of the awful management we've had at the top of a club which consistently fails to punch its weight.

Trusts the wrong people. From Phipps auctioning motorbikes on the pitch to snakey Bettis running the show.

Van Winkel attempting to sign his own players Verrips/ Berge.

A chairman who said “you won’t be seeing much of me after this” & “I’m not a football man”.

It’s laughable to be honest.
To be honest van winkel wanted Jonathan David and Dennis they are doing well

A question a blade said why are we having to do woth freebies yet Fulham wba can sign strikers etc

Fulham have very rich owners. West Brom have had the fortune financially of being a yo-yo team for many years so built up their finances. We went up within 2 years of being in league 1 for a long time with owners that don’t have unlimited resources. It’s pretty easy to see.

What worries me is, who do we have to build around?
You usually have a strong spine when you rebuild, we don't have a keeper, central defenders or midfielders..
We are basically going to have to build around Ndiaye and Jebbo.

This exactly, who have we got who we can say will underpin and be cornerstones of our team for the next 3/4/5 seasons?
Who have we got who we can rely on to churn out the 8/10 performance a team needs to even keep their heads above water, let alone be successful in the immediate future, let alone the longer term. This is to do with attitude, application and will to win state of mind, without even talking about the skill and ability side of the game.

I would say Egan is part of that spine too, and Brewster is still very young we still mights get a tune out of him.

In 2-3 years we might have Brewster and Ndiaye in behind Jebbo.

I suspect that neither Egan nor Brewster will be here, this time next year.

I have a feeling my water that he'll end up at a team beginning with the letter 'B'.
I instantly thought Bournemouth because they are top of the table as i dont think it will be Brentford as he came from there.

But thats me forgetting Blackburn are in a play off spot and I just didnt think of Burnley.

We beat Fulham in our last league game.

Why would you say you need to replace players when you know you can't move them on or replace them?

Sounds like brilliant management.

We lost to Derby in our last league game, which transfer window are we going to move players on and recruit better,it's up to those who are responsible for doing it to get creative and do what they are there to do,or are we going to waste window after window doing nothing and stagnating while other clubs get on with doing it.

Basically we don’t have any quality in midfield and without MGW that was glaringly obvious, we need to get rid of the wasters and HOPE the board will invest in those areas that were crying out for.

if we don’t we’re a lower mid table team.

Nearly every club in the top 2 divisions are foreign owned.
We are currently one of the highest spenders in the league….hence we have plenty of money whilst we’re receiving the Sky payments.
However in 2 years this will stop and if we don’t get back to the PL we will need to downsize like most of the other Championship clubs.
Doesn't help us now! Always believed you have to speculate to accumulate ... seems we are a corner shop outfit not a supermarket now ... let's see what 31st January brings .... really not optimistic.... dont believe in jam tomorrow

Bloody hell that's depressing 🥺

Not be for a quid though ... im losing interest fast

A bit of a rebuilding job is definitely needed. The midfield isnt good enough and we have players reaching the end age-wise.

I doubt we are going to see any proper re-build however, as the Prince has no money, we have no transfer budget and players who did have value (Berge, Brewster) are probably currently worth a fraction of the price we paid for them. The fanbase will also accept treading in water in the Championship as it means more Saturday home matches and cheaper half time pies.
