Looking forward to seeing some of the youngsters come through, especially McFadzean, Kennedy, Whitehouse and Ironside. They may only be here for a season or two but nonetheless it should be good to see them development.

UTB

I'm looking forward to seeing if the phrase "I'm just glad I have a club to support" survives or goes the way of "Oh Mr McCabe, you are the best thing that's ever happened to this club".

Oh my fecking good god Terrence!
We have actually turned into Crewe Alexandra

C'mon you railwaymen - then fuck off down the track.

Correct I don't live near a tram route ;) I was thinking about your poor feet what with the gout n that.

I would rather be disappointed with youth than watching some of our players go through the motions.

Just sign McDonald and a full back then leave the squad filling to the kids. Wish we could get rid of the high earners and put in the youngsters.. people talking about Southampton, well they bedded some youngsters in when they were in our division.

Is offering two options some sort of dumming down of a multi choice question for us.;)

I'm looking forward to the lighthearted drivel talked about in the lion, SF, being glued to his seat, me ( allegedly) doing a benny hill impression, keeny all dewy eyed and in love, Ross, well being Ross, Rory doing bar runs for his dad, foxy on day release and Linz's bright smile. OK I lead a sheltered and simple life. Also looking forward to Tommy Fox becoming a Dad and SF officially becoming a grandad instead of acting like one..

My point, well following the blades is about the people you meet and a shared experience probably more than the football.

Im looking forward to just going to the football with my lad in his first season as a season ticket holder. I hate the close season (especially after a playoff final)

That as well as signing Ricky Lambert for over £1million but let's not pick out the significant factors, eh?

I just want to get back to the footy and ignore the world around us, is that possible?

The new Thornbridge run Cross Scythes on Derbyshire Lane opens just in time for next season.

A finer way to start a Saturday afternoon I cannot think of. :)

(except perhaps one that involves Charlize Theron)

I'm just looking forward to the acanine comments and total hysterical reaction next time ANYTHING happens at bdtbl

Yes but we already have good players, they need to be complimented with youngsters. I bet they didn't have as many players as us on 10k +

I stopped reading it after he said "I'm".

Who exactly?
I am conerned about all parts of the pitch, defense, midfield and attack - we have major gaps everywhere.

Most importanly, where are the goals going to come from? Don't put all your aggs in the Cofie basket
If KMac does not sign then where is the creativity? Quinny may be off somewhere else before the season starts and he cannot do it all on his own.

What options do we have at RB besides Monts?
Who at left back while LJF recovers? Is Williams fit enough or good enough?

I cannot see a £1 millon player coming in to augment all that lot.
If you stick with what we already have and "compliment" them with youngsters you will not get a promotion winning side - it is just not possible without some additional quality up front. There is simply not enough consistency with youngsters to stand out from the crowd.

I think Alan Hansen once said that. What is the point in having y outh if you don't pick them. No wonder this club is up the shitter. We spend so much money on youth but want to pay for experience and never play them. Time is now to find out whether they can play in the 3rd tier. Drives me insane, so we might struggle in the short term, can we for once think long term

Nothing to do with short vs long term. There appears to be no choice here now.
Not advocating one or the other at either extreme of the spectrum - kids need to be introduced with the benefot of learning their trade from a good set of solid professionals to thrive - not all lumped in together in the hope they might gel in the mans game of a third division promotion battle.

The quality of the Man Utd kids that made Hansen eat his words is also different. Dont' expect Kennedy, Whitehouse, Irnoside etc to be as good as the likes of Scholes, Giggs, & Beckham.

I imagine it is relative. They could be the same for us in the 3rd tier as Manure's lot were to them in the premier.

I am not talking about chucking them all in, however they must fill the squad. We need at least 2 youngsters to be starters this season or the youth idea is pointless.

Of course we could just continue to pay journeymen and continue to god knows where. My prime example is right midfield. If Williamson signs then we have 3 with Chappell and Flynn. In the centre we have Harriott, Whitehouse and McAllister.. Why bother if they aren't going to play.

Time to be brave.. get the youngsters in now and WHEN we go up then we won't be signing as much shit as the other side of the city. Won't happen overnight I grant you

Potentially our new local depending on what they've done, see ya there!

His Missus is Pauline from League of Gentlemen isn't she? The A4E woman?

Not a drop of their brews will ever pass my lips.

Reasons why i'm looking forwards to the new season. Another 9 months of Saturday afternoons and Tuesday nights watching my football club, enjoying a few beers, renewing old acquaintances and meeting new, having a laugh and a bit of banter with my mates.

Reasons why i'm not looking forwards to the new season.

Don't think the youngsters are ready for the jump, and think most of them will struggle badly

The knives coming out at more or less the start of the season.

The moral sapping walk from the Lane to the boozer after the match, going through everything that has/is going wrong at the Lane.

The potential for more car park demonstrations, because people care and are that pissed off with what is happening at the club.

Seeing more money drifting out of the club, and going in to McCabe's pocket in the form of rental on a lease of 'The World's Oldest Professional Football Ground"

The lack of clarity, leadership and communication from the club about what is happening to Sheffield United

Potentially watching Sheffield United sleepwalking in to the 4th tier of English Football
