Once again, even before a ball has been kicked in a competitive game, there appears to be a ridiculous amount of negativity. Briefly scanning through this morning - complaints about Lunny, the catering and perceived lack of transfer activity are easy to find. This all following a game against a team who will be playing Champions League football next season which we could have won!

Forty years at the lane have equipped me with the tolerance to cope with negativity and moaners but what struck me last night was how different I feel about what's going on at our club.

Don't forget, Chris Wilder will only be starting his third season and look at the change he has brought about. He has improved the team in every single way - removing the passengers decisively, bringing in improvements who have had immediate effect and coaching the players he chose to keep - making them better and more valuable members of our squad! This has resulted in cohesive team who play with passion, pride and style - I team I for one look forward to watching.

If you compare his work to 'bigger' names he is different class. Take two examples - Steve Bruce and Chris Coleman. Bruce in particular has none of Wilder's skills. He simply spends others money on obvious, often over priced 'stars' - throws them in the team and stands back to see the result. Then, when it goes wrong he blames the owners, the players and the fans and 'demands' talks regarding more transfer funds. He doesn't appear to feel the responsibility to develop the players he has or alter his tactics to suit a situation. To quote a legendary character and one time contributor to this forum - 'the things you own end up owning you.'

Don't get me wrong, I'll defend anyone's right to moan - we all get frustrated and not everything at the club is as it should be. Where it matters though, on the pitch, the work of Wilder and his team has been incredible.

If I'm honest, I don't expect a top 6 finish this season - there are too many other teams ahead of us at this stage - but I don't think we'll be far off. We will start the season with a better squad than we ended last and we'll continue to have the best manager in the division.

Well said that man, but, I believe a top 6 finish is achievable and defo top 10 again, we've got a great group of lads here, and if we start like last year we can kick on, I think JTW will be very important though, especially after last year, and seeing us burn out abit toward the end of the campaign .

To the OP this is sufc. I’ve come to accept a lot of fans are morons but have to accept all clubs have morons too.

I was very impressed last night with everything. Was meant to be in Platinum suite and moved everyone upstairs food was amazing and the room was newly done up.

Our fans moaned about McGoldrick before he kicked a ball and I won’t forget when fans were moaning about Fleck and JoC at the very start of there tenure here.

CW will do his best, and one day he will out grow us and we will wish we had done more as fans to help aide the club spirit.

Who was that? It's a great quote so he must've been a great guy?

It was Papa Roach, obviously.

"Present yourself, press your clothes, comb your hair
And clock in
You just can't win, just can't win
And the things you own, own you"
