I think you mean ‘accept’.

It’s all about context for me. From the position we were in it’s not ideal, however it’s better than being 4 points behind with 7 games left, which is where we might be.

If we looked like only getting 3 or less points than Boro between now and the end of the season I’d be happier, but we don’t.

I've put no twice just for the doom brigade

The context is a points gap which is reducing at an alarming rate, a 20 goal advantage that is now gone & a side that is losing more games than they win. That's context.

Agreed, some still won’t take off the blade tinted specs though and will keep saying “we’re (only) x points in front/behind” until it’s the end of the season and we’re in the play offs.

Most things especially when those things are close in context is about psychology. Is it any coincidence that Borough have Carrick as a manager a guy who was in a team that had a winning mentality and suddenly they are flying. Most of the teams that have been succesful play their loan players from the premier league. The two lads from Manchester City clearly like playing for Sheffield United and they hail from a team that are winners.

When City went two down against Villa at the end of last season. Think of the Psychology involved there. Villa managed by Gerrard with Coutinho scoring. The Liverpool connection aiding to try and assist Liverpool winning the title. What did city do? They came back from 2-nil down and won 3-2 winning the title. That sort of experience/mentality cascades down through the club. Do you really think the pair of them want to go back to their parent club having failed? The answer is no.

I am neither a happy clapper or a bed wetter. I am a realist. The reality is that we are still 4 points to the good but we are slipping against teams in and around us. This must be addressed. Perhaps the time has come with 10 games to go to play them together from the start of matches and drop those who are not performing. Those lads have a point to prove to Man City and in doing so they can and will aid us.

Hecky's just because you are from the premier league champions does not guarantee you a place in the team is all well and good when the team is playing well, but quite frankly that policy, currently, is like Turkeys voting for Christmas.

Hypothetical question because today and the past few games been Bobbar so can’t vote

Re: Newcastle fans when Man U chased them down, us ( my only ever early txt to Pig friends) with a 4pt (mind the gap) lead & 2 games in hand, remember the same types of comment after boxing day when we turned from superb to garbage .

The most heart breaking of all Jimmy White 16 -12 up in his final against Hendrie.Jimmy waste player of the tournament & battered Hendrie over 3 sessions. Hendrie scraped the 1st frame at night & no matter what jimmy did the momentum for Hendrie just grew & he broke the heart of Jimmy & a country.

We had a run early in the season about 6 games with no win , I think the losses to cov, Stoke and qpr were in that. Then we bounced back tremendously, I know there's more pressure now but we can bounce back again.

Yes and that's what I voted for but the bigger picture shows a long winded implosion. We may still go up or we may fail again, time will tell.
