Now I think we will win and win easily, I didn’t realise they were the 5th home form team in the championship. I’ve watched extended highlights of them yesterday and it was like watching a mid table blue square team.

Yes, but they were playing a TEAM who know exactly what they are doing. Whereas we rely on opposition mistakes or individual moments of brilliance from Illiman.

And that’s why Middlesbrough are top of the league but we’re in the bottom half.

No wait… it turns out we have four more points than them having played a game less.

Weird how football fans are so negative about their own team.

And, when Reading beat us, we will say......

?

To be fair mate fans have every right to be negative, we've just lost 3/4 league games and our once healthy cushion in 2nd place has been eroded very quickly. Yes we are 2nd but even when we were winning there were many that were concerned by our intensity and overall performance.

When this team is under pressure to deliver, they have a worrying habit of bottling it. That isn't an opinion, it's a fact. We have been piss poor, and I'd argue the only reason we even sit in 2nd place is due to some slow starts to the season by big hitters (Boro for example) and as others on here have alluded to we have been bailed out by moments of brilliance from Ndiaye - make no mistake, without him I doubt we'd be higher than mid table.

I'd love to be proven wrong but I can see us slipping out of the autos, and into the playoffs, and we all know how the script for that goes.

It isn’t a fact. We’ve won 19 matches this season and lost 8. We have delivered when under pressure and lost games when under pressure. Like all teams do. You’re selectively picking examples if you believe that we always lose when under pressure.

This was my point about fans being negative. It’s quite possible that we’re shit, of course. But if so, Boro are four points more shit than us.

Being “bailed out” by one of our players is a positive, not a negative. Other teams will look at us and say the reason we’re 2nd is because we have talent that they don’t have. You might be right that we’d be mid table without him. But we have him, and we’re second. Enjoy it!

What he needs to do is grow a pair and start his strongest 11 game in/out barring injuries/ suspensions .Think he does this to keep everyone involved ,this constant fkg rotating does nothing for building a playing pattern , confidence through results & continuity , not to mention competition for places at this pivotal point of the season ⚔️

The situation will become more clear after the Reading game because at least then it's even games played and we know for sure the gap between us with points available remaining.

We always knew this would be a rough run of matches, and so it has turned out. But just the season we have amassed the points for a reason. I’m still fairly optimistic. Which is actually very optimistic for me when it comes to football.

If you consider someone to be “bottling” it, that’s an opinion not a fact.
Fact is that we are still 4 points clear with a game in hand. Just where we were 2 games ago: another fact.

Reading's home league games since Christmas for much needed context:

3-1 v Blackpool (22nd)
2-1 v Rotherham (18th)
2-2 v Watford (9th)
2-2 v QPR (20th)
2-1 v Swansea (17th)

Oddly enough if you play shit teams, your form will generally look alright

True.
But our away form this calendar year reads:

1-1 v QPR (20th)
0-0 v Rotherham (18th)
2-3 v Millwall (7th)
0-1 v Blackburn (4th).

P4: W0, D2, L2.

Form would say, we're unlikely to win.
Most likely outcome is a draw.

Our overall form this calendar year is:

P9: W4, D2, L3
14 points ÷ 9 games = 1.5 points per game average.
12 games remaining x 1.5 ppg = 82.5 points.

Middlesbrough would need their output to be at around 2 points per game (which would be a drop off on how they have been doing) to match our total.

If every game went to form or as you expected result Bet365 would be skint and we would all be loaded !

When we went up under Basset we had a wobble at about this stage , thank god we didn’t have the internet then and all the whiney gits were moaning to themselves

Way over the top reaction as usual. I think some of these people never get out of their armchairs. they are just waiting for us to fail.
Propper supporters get behind their team.

It was also a lot closer than this the last time we went up. I remember Wigan beating Leeds away to pretty much secure our top 2 place. Beat Reading (which we ought to do) and we're ok again.

Win, and win easy ????????
Which club do you support ?

What I'd like to know is why the club pay so much money to a manager when all they have to do is look on here for free......
pre match motivational team talk with afore mentioned free manager;

QPR may be 20th now, but were much higher up the league than that when we played them.

Just a realist, we lose Tuesday and we will end up in the play offs

That's a pessimist, not a realist.

An optimist would say that we'll definitely be fine.
A realist would say that we're four points ahead and in a decent position but it could still go either way.
A pessimist would say that everything's going wrong and we're doomed.
