Readings home form

Now I think we will win and win easily, I didn’t realise they were the 5th home form team in the championship. I’ve watched extended highlights of them yesterday and it was like watching a mid table blue square team.
If they beat us, their home record is same as ours 😳

Reading's home league games since Christmas for much needed context:

3-1 v Blackpool (22nd)
2-1 v Rotherham (18th)
2-2 v Watford (9th)
2-2 v QPR (20th)
2-1 v Swansea (17th)

Oddly enough if you play shit teams, your form will generally look alright
But as I just posted above. Their home form over the season is pretty much same as ours. 3pts less, but also a game less. They have 33pts at home vs. 11 away.

This will not be easy

Meh, I'm going to have a guess that Hecky will point out that we murdered these at home, and that is a more pertinent bit of information than people wishing to make out that a half empty new build in the middle of nowhere is somehow pre-PL Anfield 2.0

Yes, but they were playing a TEAM who know exactly what they are doing. Whereas we rely on opposition mistakes or individual moments of brilliance from Illiman.
what a bag of bollocks, we have the most different scorers in the division
we are the highest scorers and create the most attempts on goal , which does have some bearing
9 fa cup goals 9 different scorers

even at blackburn we had more attempts than blackburn according to opta stats

our last 6 highest club we play are 11th

They're on the naughty step with the EFL suits...6 points likely to come off their pts tally, due to £ irregularities, again! (previously referred to) That'll put them on the edge of the drop zone. A right royal stuffing by the Blades will see them on the crest of a slump.

Can have all shots you want but if you don’t put them away it means feck all.

Can have all shots you want but if you don’t put them away it means feck all.

And when we're being patient trying to get decent shots away, you've got idiots here blaming us for not taking shots whenever we're within 35 yards of goal

I predict 17 points from those games let’s hope it’s enough

before reading this thread i was thinking you would batter reading, like we did. now i'm not sure, the pessimists on here have me doubting what looks like a straightforward 3 points.

tactically reading were pinging long diagonals for carrol to nod back into the box. with zero success btw. very warnock type setup. as the game went on i was thinking. there is Absolutely no chance they will get anything here. score was still 0-0 after about 30min. we looked like we had 2 players extra on the pitch. even if we had a man sent off i reckon we would have still battered them.
we didnt play any different to any other game really. they just couldny handle us. we have played like this since the mackems beat us.

Boro look terrifying to be fair, the West Brom game was probably an anomaly. Looking at both sets of fixtures even if we win tomorrow night, I can see you lads taking second with ease.

so their defeat was an anomoly although theyve lost half of their away games

good logic

its not easy for any team to win all the last 12 games only burnley have earnt over 2 points per game this season
doubt very much us boro or blackburn will get over 2 per game
so is we can go 7 points clear with our game in hand it will be a massive gap to make up

Do they? We could’ve been 3-0 up after 15 minutes against them.

Their second is our player putting it on a plate for them.

Their third is our players not playing to the whistle and turning off.

They lost to WBA.

They put five past Reading but should’ve had a man sent off and a penalty at 1-0. 2 of their goals were pens. 2 of the others were by a player on loan.

Yes, they’re a good team but the fact that we’re not clicking is helping them more than anything.

Scoring 2 at Millwall is a rarity, again there’d be a point if not for players turning off again.

And 1 goal conceded to a flying Blackburn team full of youth and pace, away. Again probably a point if Bash can not fall over.

Doom and gloom on here, it’s far from over, get behind them.

I think we need to not look at the fixtures when wilder was managing them but when carrick took over, that is a true reflection of their form and results.

in all the games weve losrt recently theres an argument we could have got a result from any of them
millwall could have gone either way and we created plenty of chances in the other 2

to be fair if wed drawn all 3 the same suspects would be saying wed blown it such is their negativity a draw is a heavy defeat to them
hard to believe as it is I reckon some hope we fail just so they can brag they forecast it and like every individual win gets slagged off they will only see promotion to the prem as a passge to a disappointing season , makes you wonder why they bother

6 of those away defeats came before the end of October. 5 before Carrick came in and the 6th in Carrick's first game in charge.

Since then, their away form is: WWWLWWLWWL (defeats to Sunderland, Burnley & WBA). In amongst those wins are Blackburn, Norwich and United

I like your enthusiasm to put a positive spin on everything, but you haven't considered the bigger picture and/or the change in management.

Carricks record as boss is: LWDWWWLWWWWLWWWWWLW

OR...

W14 D1 L4

You can't even spin it that they have had an easy run of games in that time as they have beaten - United (a), Watford, Millwall, Blackburn (a), Luton & Norwich (a)

13 wins in 16 games!!!

The best United have achieved is 11 wins in 14

Unfortunately they're hitting form at the right time in the season and we're dropping our form at the same time.

doubt very much us boro or blackburn will get over 2 per game

Boro points per game currently.

Last 5 - 2.4
Last 10 - 2.4
Last 15 - 2.4
_______________ above is all Carrick
Last 20 - 2.2
Last 25 - 2.0

But you don't think they will hit 2ppg ?

a season lasts 46 games not one teams temporary good form
we had a similar run to get in the play offs but couldnt quite make the points up to bournemouth , neither could forest

yet we are still above them I wonder why ,
as Ive said its 46 games your judged on not 19, most of those 14 wins are against bottom half teams like Reading

no theyve played and won games against teams like qpr blackpool birmingham cardiff, they lost at sunderland west brom burnley as most competing teams do
we finish with 6 bottom half teams I expect us to finish strongly

but over 18 away games they still lost 9
weve had runs over 2 points per game but they are snap shots

Honestly mate. You're so blinkered in your views, you'd be better suited as a Wednesday fan. 5 of the wins were against the top 7

Facts show that they have beaten 8 bottom half and 7 top half.

  1. Reading - 15th
  2. QPR - 20th
  3. Sheff U - 2nd
  4. Cardiff - 21st
  5. Blackpool - 22nd
  6. Watford - 9th
  7. Millwall - 7th
  8. Birmingham - 19th
  9. Blackburn - 4th
  10. Wigan - 23rd
  11. Luton - 5th
  12. Norwich - 6th
  13. Blackpool - 22nd
  14. Hull - 13th

as I said more bottom half teams , we have played 4 promotion contenders on the bounce

Jokanovic left us with 8 defeats in 19 games.
Heckingbottom lost 5 games in the remaining 27

We have. We are in the middle of a very tough run of games.

Your argument was that Boro are on their run because they're playing bottom half teams. I've shown evidence that it is simply untrue - it's almost a 50/50 split. Over the course of 46 games a season, you know what - it's almost a 50/50 split... it can't ever finish exactly 50/50 because you can't play yourself....

your figures
Carricks record as boss is: LWDWWWLWWWWLWWWWWLW

heckys last 19 LEAGUE are

LWLLWDWWWDWWWWWLWWW
W13 D2 L 4

SO THEYVE MADE UP 2 POINTs WHILE CARRICKS BEEN THERE Just keep our heads we should make it
win tonight they have to make up 7 in the remaining 11 games

Even if we win tonight on their trajectory we will struggle to hold onto second.

You know what - that is quite a good stat. If we win tonight, the 2pts gain is correct. We have only played 18 games since Carrick has been in.

When Carrick took over, Middlesbrough were 21st and 9pts behind us.

1678187961250.png

Today they are 4 points behind us but have played a game more. Win tonight and it looks better all of a sudden.

However... and there is an however...

Just 7 games ago, we were 15pts above them. This is the telling thing. CURRENT form
