Reading 1 United 2 - report

Berge is a PL standard version of Coutts: the conductor who drops deep, picks the ball up off the centre halves then finds the full backs or other midfielders with short-to-medium range low lateral passes. Norwood is a quarterback: he shifts the ball forward quickly and accurately with long and generally high passes. That's a completely different style to Coutts/Berge so comparing them is difficult. It was also noticeable that Baldock was in space waiting for a "ping" quite a few times on Tuesday but he's played with Norwod for nearly two seasons so has got used to it - Osborn wasn't taking up the same positions on the left.

I thought Berge was excellent in the first half before fading although there was a great bit of skill towards the end of the second half of normal time which left the Reading player with no idea where the ball had gone. He's also got two big technical weaknesses which we need to work on - he is very one footed and he's really poor at heading.
