Just for a bit of fun, below is a list my own ranking of a mixture of recent Blades strikers best - worst. Agree/Disagree?

1) Richard Cresswell - Not exactly prolific but an absolute grafter and was good foil for Ched in that first league one season.
2) Marc McNulty - Bit of an enigma as never looked to hold down a place, but felt he would produce if given the service. A poor man's Billy Sharp you could say.
3) Clayton Donaldson - Injury hit and in his twighlight years, but fantastic pace still and scored some vital goals in first championship season back.
4) Chris Porter - Again not one to get you out of your seat but don't think his goal output was actually that bad and could stick a penalty away
5) Dave Kitson - Best days were clearly behind him but seem to remember him being a threat and notching double figures.
6) Shaun Miller - Seemed plagued by injuries but always felt we looked more dangerous with him playing.
7) Connor Sammon - Appaling, but actually think he contributed more than those below.
8) Marlon King - What a waste of a signing and was never wanted, 1 goal maybe?
9) Michael Higdon - The hippo, terrible professional, knocked in a couple of goals early doors.
10) Billy Paynter - Lol.

And yet all of them better than McBurnie!

Out of that list, I’d move Higgopotamus above King, and probably Sammon tbf.

Paynter was woeful.

Loved Clayts for that debut double against Sunderland after everyone was moaning about him being the last minute deadline day disappointment, shut a few people up straight away.

McNulty Was Aguero’s ideal replacement at Man City, if he could score goals.

It's a pretty bad selection but I think I agree with your ordering. Bit of a gap between 6th and 7th in my view.
#1 - Good, or at least as you say a good foil for others
#2-#6 - OK
#7-#10 - Bloody awful

TBF I think Clayton added physicality and mobility to a forward line that was lacking at the time and honestly has been ever since aside from Mcburnie in his first season.

Cresswell wa never prolific but was all heart and let's not forget he a) saved someone's life on the pitch with first aid and b) scored one of those sneaky ones where the keeper rolls it out without looking behind them. Despite all that you don't want to be going into a playoff final with him up front as we did and that is the acid test.

Donaldson, Kitson, King, all capable strikers with good careers but their best years behind them. Donaldson overachieved, Kitson was useful and one of the stronger elements of a side on the way down. King disgraced himself.

Porter was an unimaginative signing and his fortunes intertwined with us in those league one years. Not good enough for a team chasing automatic promotion, he was initially goalscoring kryptonite. The more our aspirations of a quick return waned, the more he came to the fore - probably not a coincidence despite committed performances and lots of endeavour. Rightly celebrated for important cup goals and nerveless penalty technique, I nonetheless feel like as blades we get attached to too many limited players too often.

Miller was thought to be an odd signing because he'd been kicking around the league below to no great effect. It took him a while to get going. The game he got injured he looked unplayable. So sad to see the opposing fans boo him for supposedly putting it on. It finished him.

McNulty: weirdly annoying in a way you can't quite put your finger on. Hard to like. Clough thought so too and he clearly paid the price for that.

Sammon: Loved by Clough for no reason. A no hoper. Execrable. It's possible there have been worse misses but that's the one everyone remembers.

Higdon: A joke, past it. A deperate transfer.

Paynter: Who?

No matter how many goals and assists he could get for us, even if he’d got more than king Keith n billy put together King would be bottom of that list,

Give over. McBurnie is an absolute arsehole who should never have been given the chance to wear our clubs shirt.

TBF to McNulty he could finish. Sammon, Higgo, Miller, Paynter couldn’t finish a dinner. Sounds like he’s gone off the rails completely now.

Also deserves credit for the tap in against Soton in the Cup - what a night that was!

I’d suggest Hugo could definitely finish a dinner

People maybe forget how good Miller was and could have been

His knee injury on boxing day finished him and, along with the Classical McCabist sale of Nick Blackman, finished our very strong chances of winning the league

Miller is the standout. Easily. Creswell then Porter. As for the rest , meh. Apart from NcNulty seniors twat of a son.

Sadly he's as weak as a glass of water. McBurnie.

Miller gets a point for being in the right place at the right time that night at Craven Cottage. Cup replay, away at a team in a higher division, 120th minute, and absolute pandemonium in the away end.
He got a late double v Vale at Lane a year before to overturn a 1 0 deficit and win FA Cup tie v Micky Adams' League Two side.
