We have got pretty damn good cup pedigree all things considered.

This is Uniteds 8th SF United have reached whilst being outside the top tier: 1936, 1961, 1998, 2003, 2015 and 2023 in the FA cup and 2003 and 2014 in the League Cup. Can anyone better that?
Southampton have reached 8 FA Cup semi finals when not in the top division (1898, 1900, 1902, 1908, 1925, 1927, 1963 and 1976). That beats us in the FA Cup and ties us overall, as they haven’t done it in the league cup.

If we win in the semis that would better it.

The 3 most recent occasions that the FA Cup semi finals have featured a team outside the top tier:

2023 - Sheffield United
2015 - Reading FC
2014 - Sheffield United

Fun fact: The 7 year period since Reading reached the semis as a 2nd tier club, and us doing so this season, is the longest length of time that the FA Cup semi finals have been top tier-only since 1889.

Adding 1993 into that (and any others while we were in the top division), has any team got a worse record in FA Cup semis than us? That’s at least five semi defeats in a row (and probably soon to become six).

Tottenham have lost 8 in a row since 1991. That’s the record.
