Got to disagree, he did well in front of an inept disorganised defence and defensive midfield. If Hendo had made those two saves everyone would have been spunkin all over the place. Hendo made major gaffs and spectacular saves, he’s a showman. It’s unfair and inappropriate to start using a departed manure player to beat up our newest recruit and very promising keeper when our ‘stars’ like Fleck, Norwood, McGoldrick, Sharp were more like L1 players than Pl.

What terrible error did he make. Ffs get a grip.

If someone took the lead weights out of his back he may have been capable of diving above the crickets and got a hand to their goals.

Really? Leaning backwards 10 yards out, no power on the looping header, in the middle of the goal, at least a foot under the bar?

Jeez, if an EPL keeper can't save that then god help us.
Pathetic. The brightonalona goal v Chelsea was a soft goal. Give Saiss credit. Had that have been JoC or Egan scoring that, we’d have been in raptures.

Agreed, apart from it wasn't really an amazing save. The striker should have done better, he put it directly at Ramsdale and there's an argument that he should have caught it. He made it look good though.

Only a psychopath would make that argument.

I'll be brave and post this. Didn't do too well tonight overall and it's it easy to say he's a downgrade on Hendo but he pulled off an amazing save 2nd half and distributed the ball really well.

The big concern is diving at height, Hendo would reach the crossbar full body in a horizontal dive and would have save their 2nd goal and maybe even their first, Rambo dives like he's got a weight tied to his back. Hope he settles down and shows us why he's U21 keeper and worth the big fee we paid for him.
You are obviously a premier league goalie or coach!,

No, No, No - his dive was going down into the pacific for a scuba session.

I am worried about this keeper.

Offer your great experience to Wardy who sees a great goal keeper in the making and to the gaffer who does as well, since the lad was 18.

I will repeat what I said about him when he was at Bournemouth long before he was linked with coming back here.. “he makes two perhaps even three great saves almost every game, and makes one terrible error almost every game”

And thats precisely what happend tonight, his performance was exactly what I expected from him. He’s only 22 so in a couple of years may move beyond that terrible error a game but until then it’s going to cost us if we don’t start scoring more regularly at the other end.

I counted four mistakes that led to goals from Henderson last season that’s pretty good level, not many keepers in the modern game come up to that standard.. we can’t expect that sort of level of performance this season. Makes getting a regular goal scorer even more important at the other end.
He does gone, forget him get behind

Forget hendo, hes gone ,in wilder we trust, cant believe people on ramsdales back tonight, need summat up front, pace, mcburnie puts a shift in always.feel for billy but a bit late in his career this prem.wilder got to be ruthless now.

Just watched it back and to be fair, it's a much closer shot than I thought, certainly couldn't have caught it but it was still straight at him and a good height.

1st he didn’t stand a chance
2nd he could’ve done better
Then made a couple of really good saves, that one from Saiss when Norwood just gave them the ball and he tipped it onto the post was outstanding

Stop comparing him and Henderson

Can you tell me about the terrible errors each game last season Ramsdale made. Cus i saw every game and i cannot remember one terrible mistake in the whole season.
There was a goal by Vardy where Ramsdale was lobbed, which Vardy did the same later on in the season in another match.

You could certainly say that on first glance it looks a good save due to the way he dived at it but having looked at it again, the only reason he has to dive like that is because both knees go to the floor during the dive (why?). On another day it goes in.

In all fairness it was straight at him and a good height, if we concede from that shot there would be a lot of understandable uproar on here.

I would argue one full season in the premier league culminating in relegation is unproven for the level we want to be at.

In that case we would be talking 30-40m
For a keeper then.

Ramsdale is a quality keeper i dont put any blame on him tonight our defence was awful and midfield non existent in the first half.

Lundstram and Norwood are just not good enough overall and it is clear as day Lundstram is not at the races didn't even look bothered that first half especially.

Did anyone else see this inevitable thread coming for whenever whichever keeper we signed conceded his first couple of goals? I'd expect both Rammers and Hendo to save the second eight times out of ten, but let's get a grip - it's by no means the worst bit of goalkeeping I've seen today (see Kepa for that one). Lord only knows what will happen on this forum when he makes a real howler a la Hendo at Liverpool. Let's get behind the lad!

To replace Hendo we’d need £120k a week so we need to settle for what we’ve got at 1/4 of that value. We were lucky and spoiled to have him for 2
seasons.

Defensively we aren’t as good as people think, it’s like the Alamo at times. Hendo undoubtedly won us a lot of points last season. That said there aren’t many players that I’d swap our defenders for, it’s just that collectively and individually they can’t afford a bad game ever, or they look poor.
Wolves were cuttiing us open at will.

Both Lunny & Norwood were poor + the most worrying part was that it didn't seem to bother them.

Looks to me like Lunny's got a nice move sorted out + because of this Norwood feels his place in the side is safe once Berge has to play RCM.

There'll be no fee coming in for Lunny with which to buy an RCM.

Our only hope is to play Bogle or Ampadu at RCM until they're needed elsewhere.

If Wilder thinks tonight was an acceptable standard we're heading out of the PL.

If not , he's still gorra reight job on to keep us up.

What about the shot that went wide and he dived a for it five minutes later? Bizarre.

Not comparing him to Hendo but he looked poor. Fingers crossed he improves.

Do we still have Moore and the Belgian?

For me that's an excellent assessment - Ramsdale is going to split opinion on here.

It is a brave post because he is a new United player and some will say give him time.

The doubters will have watched a lot of his games last season for Bournemouth.

It was always going to be a tricky situation following Hendo, just got to hope Darren Wrd has a positive effect on him.

No - because some have followed what he did last season at Bournemouth.

To some it's about Hendo - to others like me Hendo is history and it's about the keeper we have now and how he performs.

Nice to see some have got their scapegoat nice and early this season. He was not at fault for the second goal. The issue with the second goal is the free header. Better defending stops that goal, not rambo.

It's one game, we grew as it went on and we don't have all players fully fit yet. We will be fine.
