Right this is it I'm going to have a rant now. Listened to RS in the car tonight on a long drive. What a load of Wendy bias rubbish. That presenter Rob spoke glowingly about the pigs and could not disguise his glee as caller after caller rang up demanding that the pigs be in the champions league NOW! He mentioned every thirty seconds that the pigs had signed Gary Madine from Carlisle. I lost count how many times he said his name. This was only interupted by a 12 minute interview with Irvine while Adams only got what seemed like 5 minutes. After an hour I was beginning to wonder is any other teams in South Yorkshire. I wanted to turn it off but I was clinging to the hope there might be a snipit of information about the Blades performance as I could not listen to the commentry. But fuck sake I was pissed off by the time I got home. If it had not been for the spinless gutless CO-OP bank not hounding the pigs for every penny the owed Wendy could be extinct now. But then again RS would have nothing to talk about then.
PS Well done Blades today apparently we drew !!

I cant wait for the day when the club can do its own radio show.As for irvswine he likes to hear himself talk,Adams can get his thoughts over in two sentences which would take Irvswine half an hour.

Couldn't agree more. RS is always biased to the pigs, but last night was unbelievable. Every caller who wanted to talk about the pigs valiantly dropping 2 home points and sinking to ninth was interrupted by Rob The Pig 'What do you think about the signing of Gary Madine (or that other no-mark from Scotland)? Do you think Reda had a good game? Is he the new Carlton Palmer?'

Obviously this Wednesday Wank-fest attracted yet more pig fans talking delusional rubbish about getting Martin O'Neill in as manager...

Like the bankers, it's as if corrupt Wednesday have done nothing wrong and they're just happy that 'the transfer embargo has been lifted' (which, of course never existed) and they can just continue in their own, bent way.

No wonder fans of other clubs didn't bother ringing in to interrupt this piggy love-in. (Of course RS will use this to justify concentrating on Wendy even more). They'd have been met with 'Well, I'm afraid the line is breaking up. Now Wednesday fans, what do you think of the signing of Gary Nadine?'.

That's it for me. Radio Sheffield will be consigned to history by me, like that other amateurish, biased outlet of 'local media', The Star.

As I drove home on Friday night I turned on part way through a smug Wednesday caller (Nev) talking about some research he had done into the origins of a pig farm at Hillsborough. Anyway he quickly pointed out that the only link was the slaughter of 11 pigs on Boxing Day 1979 and proceeded to read out a "poem" where he continually referred to Wednesday cutting through the pigs and pork. Now this guy was clearly out to antagonise, unfortunately for him he didn't with me.

What antagonised me was the fact that Andy Giddings did nothing to stop him, instead chuckling away as to how the programme had become Poetry Corner. I have heard callers who refer to other teams (not even in derogatory terms) cut off before, but this guy continued to refer to United as Pigs throughout. I have never heard this allowed airtime before? Oh well, clearly standards have been set.

radio sheff, hallam fm,the sheffield star have always been and always will be biased towards the swines, let them be,they love the attention and still cling to hopes that they are still the biggest in sheffield.(bit like look north and calender are to weeds)they are the only team in yorkshire by the way.Fxxk em all,we can just go quietly about our buisness.

Chesterfield fan called in last night and understandably wanted to talk about his side's 1-0 win to keep them top of the table. The presenter let him talk for 20 seconds about how well Chesterfield were doing, then interrupted him..."So, what do you think to Gary Madine? He played on loan for you didn't he?" Un-fucking-believable.

I used to play 5 a side football against Owlstalk at concord. They used to have a player who was very poor but was called Rob Staton. He kept going on about how he was a Scout/Reporter during the banter in each game. When I first heard him on BBC Radio Sheffield I was certain it was him. He used to be a very popular poster on www.owlstalk.co.uk - I would imagine it is the same person and that would explain why he is so biased towards the wendy.

Their chairman is a very very clever man. Promising all these big players but who have they actually bought who you think wow that's a good signing for Wednesday. I heard the other day that their chairman has said they are matching premier league bids for a player. How clever is that to get the Wendy thinking that they are on the up. At the end of the day who will the player decided to move to? Sheffield United could have matched Real Madrid's bid for Cristiano Ronaldo if we wanted. We all know he wouldn't have come to us. Mandaric is a very very clever Business man. When he sells his last Business adventure he will have made quite a bit of dough.

Rob Staton's becoming more and more obnoxious as he's given more airtime . His annoying habit of practically 'spitting ' his words out whilst trying to sound partially intelligent .....along with the silly woman who for some inexplicable reason has been given the job of reading out 'selected' texts, facebook and email comments on FH every night .......has me reaching for the off button after 5 minutes .

you would,nt think it was hard to read emails and text messages out,but she tends to fuck that up aswell on most occasions !

I think that the problem right now is that the best two presenters (Walker and Bennett) are heading for TV and the Pigs are positive all of a sudden. They just want to harp on and on and on about things so RS allow them to do so. It's a great format is Footy Heaven and the coverage/Praise and Grumble on Saturdays ... unfortunately, they need to improve significantly on their current team.

I was listening on the Internet for 45 minutes on Saturday, but there was no discussion of the Coventry match at all and surprisingly, not a single Blade caller. I find it hard to believe that no United fans called in. After the brief interview with Mickey Adams I turned it off.

By rights, a lower league team should not be given 80 percent of the airtime ahead of the region's three Championship teams.

Do Foxy and Linz fancy doing their own podcast instead?

I've just got fed up with the pig-fest on RS. I actually complained to the BBC about Strap-on using the station as his personal media machine to flog season tickets. I got a stan dard response which really didn't address the issues I raised. Simple answer, vote with your feet.

I still listen to the matches, as I do like Keith Edwards' insight, but the wankers running the show really could do with a fuck-off pill the size of a dustbin lid.

As mentioned above, there are several teams in this region doing very well (us not included), and they never get a look in! If we think we're hard done by, how must the Rovers. Dingles, Millers and Spirites feel? Well, we'll never know because they never call in, because, I suspect, that they simply aren't listening!

It's something we started a few years ago, but there wasn't really much interest. We could look at ressurecting it if people fancy it.

We have a 0114 number for you to call in and everything :)

Disagree with that. How about a mass complaint? How about getting all members on here (and maybe wider) to complain? There certainly seems to be some from the above. How about a petition which you send into the BBC. What about raising this with Linz and Foxy and seeing if there BIFF network can do something? (I am not just aiming this at you Sean, it's just ideas). Why not write to the new communications manager at United and see if they can do more to have United featured. Write to Birch (he reads the stuff and almost always replies) and see if they can strengthen links with Radio Shef and get us more air time.

This sounds like a really good idea Foxy. Can you give a little more detail? I'd be interested in hearing forum members opinions on the match etc. Even if it was just you and/or Linz doing a match report. Maybe we can do a poll or something to gauge demand. I'd like to think there will be several members off here who would call in. Maybe we could get an exclusive slot (like Brian the Blade has) with Lenners???!!! ;)

No offence taken Olle.

Firstly, however, when I made my own complaint to the BBC re Strap-on’s constant rhetoric and clear use of the station to promote (or attempt) season tickets, I posted the fact on here, and other forums, and encouraged others to do the same. I have no evidence to say whether many or few did so, but insofar as definate replies that I received are concerned, I would say ‘few’.

Also, if we were to ‘petition’ the station, I think we would need to pitch up with submissions not only from Blades, but from the other clubs in the region, so that we don’t just look like a bunch of self interested twats and gives some wieght to the argument! Given the fractious nature of fans’ relationships with each other, I suspect this would be very difficult.

I have to admit.....it was like radio sheffield wed****ay on Saturday. Pretty much every portion of the show (barring a few snippets about Rotherham) were geared towards talking about the pigs. If they want to cover one team thats fair enough, I'm a casual listener of the show and wont lose sleep over what is an apparent favouritism towards one club.

All I would advise them is that, if they want to retain about 40% of their listeners.....they ought to offer more than just a 3 minute interview with the manager and taking no calls from the supporters. I could be mistaken but after listening to most of the programme from Saturday, there wasnt a single Blade on the programme and that cant be through lack of Blades calling in.

As a show, it isnt what it used to be anyway IMO. I was a regular listener right up until about a year or two ago but it has gone down hill for me. Too many idiots allowed airtime on a regular basis (I'm referring to callers there ) and then as soon as those callers come out with something ludicrous or at least something the hosts dont agree with, they start getting wound up and shouting the caller down.....

Very poor and it makes a farce of the show in my view. The programme has always been a forum for opinions ranging from the succinct to the ridiculous (more the latter) but over time it has just become a circus for disgruntled supporters with far too much time on their hands. I wouldnt miss it if they took it off the air.

Wouldn't you just rather be in the juicer post-match instead? :)

Fair enough Sean.

Another route is Ofcom. You can complain to Ofcom about content of BBC show. If enough people complain then Ofcom will take action against the BBC. It might only be a letter, but it carriers more weight than you or I. Perhaps it is wasted effort, but I feel Ofcom contacting the BBC would be more effective than a few of us.

If people feel strongly enough then perhaps we could contact other fans forums. I am not sure if we would be welcomed, but I'd like to think that a 'Blades fan coming in peace' would be welcomed by other South Yorkshire clubs. If they feel the same way they might be interested. Remember that they all hate Wednesday (a little more than us) too!!? ;)

When they allow fans on childishly calling each other" pigs" ,which stirs up hatred , they should , but dont cut them off , lots of emails and texts are so obviously from rival fans trying to stir up trouble , they just read out untraced lies , anyway after probably having listened to 90% of the so called "shows" last week i said no more and gave sexy Christa my time .

I used to enjoy football heaven, but they lost my support over the Hume accident. Along with Davy they stirred it up for listening numbers. As for Wednesday biase I'm not too fused, let them do it. League 1 mid table is still a massive achievement for them, so when Chesterfield are there next year, with Dave Allen I trust they'll get the same coverage. Afterall Dave Allen has been virtually slandered on RS for the last couple of years by presenters, Wednesday fans, wednesdayite representatives and of course the media darling, money where your mouth is strafford. The RS producers just let it happen.

I think the format needs freshening up and should look at covering all local sides better. Less call in midweek, more info and news. Less idiots.

The key to the BBC should be unbiased independence to maintain credibility. Right now they have neither.

Bottom line for me - too many programmes, not enough content to fill them. Just do Matchdays and maybe Friday night so that it's all about the football and not all about the windbags - callers and hosts.

Totally agree. Well put.

I stopped listening regularly about 2 years when I'd just had enough.

I don't know what it's like now but used to consist of our neighbours talking about their attendances with presenters tossing themselves off about how great Wendy fans are and how hard done to they are.

In contrast United fans were glory hunting part timers who had become spoilt by our err no trophies in 80 years.

I got the feeling they were losing listeners and were getting more desperate and more controversial to try to stop the rot.

They have no quality control, clearly have callers psoing as fans of other teams and seem to let ridiculous assertions go un-challenged (like Wendy being potentially as big as Man U).

I suspect that they have a dwindling pool of callers and so quality is slipping further and they'd be better giving the show a rest in the week.

Where's Sir Robert Jackson when you need him?

Very true, whatever happened to the quick praise or grumble, short reasons why and then move on to the next caller rather than allowing idiots to rant on about nothing

This morning on my drive to work I heard, with my very own ears, Paul Walker state that Sheffield Wednesday are the Man City of League One.

PS - Did anybody know, Sheffield Wednesday have signed Gary Madine?

Really? I didnt know they had signed the top class Gary Madine.

As for Rad Shef its always been pretty shite and I just listen to the match. Praise or Grumble is full of idiots usually.

The bias towards the Pigs is now so blatant I really think the SUFC Director of Communications should take it up with RS.
