I thought some of the football we played today was excellent and I enjoyed the match, which is important to me. OK the defending was comical but it is difficult to blame Blackwell for that today. Morgan's error is hard to believe. Cardiff's defence was nearly as bad.

I think that Blackwell can rightly blame a bit of bad luck to day. I refer specifically to the Killa shot at 3-2 down.

Cardiff looked pretty ordinary, we couldn't play worse than we have been doing but I think there is a good side waiting to get out.

I also think the spirit looked good today. I thought Henderson was absolutely outstanding and I thought Evans was very, very poor.

The problem is and I know this is a pathetic phrase but I think we lack the X-Factor. Can't describe what I mean but I just don't see any hope under KB. If we are now going to embark on a spell of playing well and not getting wins we are in serious trouble.

Any idea if Quinn was offside?

Aye, you can't legislate for that, especially from your Captain. People are (rightly, sort of) saying that we lost narrowly to a good side and shouldn't over react. On the other hand we conceded four at home for Christ's sake, the latest in a long line of catastrophic defensive displays recently.

Yes - agree, I don't mean to underplay the seriousness of the defensive problems. It is a major, major problem.

If today was a one-off then just about OK, but it is latest in a terrible run of shambolic defending that basically loses games

Please Please today was not a one off we have defended poorly for several matches and it may cost us championship status if things do not alter quickly!
and Yes Quinn was offside:thumbdown:

Fiery - apologies if lack of clarity from me but I was saying if today was first time we'd seen such bad defending I'd be just about OK about it. Believe me, I aint happy with the defending and it has been shocking for 8 games or so.

I thought we played as good, if not better football todays as I've seen us play in a while. Alas, to use an old BU cliche', it was no more than papering over the cracks...

I thought today was just another game where we showed virtually no real passion and deserved to lose. Whilst I'd qaccept most players gave some effort I know most of them can do better.

We sorely miss monty and anyone who still thinks he is the problem in our squad must surely by now be able to recognise that without him we are a nothing side.

Also I think today shows that it's not about the goalkeeper it's all about midfield and defence. I'll make it clear from the start that I don't think Bennett was awful today or cost us the game... I'd understand dropping Bunn if Bennett realistically had any chance of overtaking him but at 38/9 and given that he's not put a great performance in since he joined us I think today was more about KB scapegoating Bunn. He argued after Blackpool that the back lineup hadn't played much together so he makes yet another change today that wasn't needed... what does he do next week after letting in 4?

Even before Kenny looked in trouble for the medicine we should have been looking for competitive cover/a challenge to him, instead we start this season again with only 1 realistic keeper option. He's left us struggling all over the pitch in key areas and then has the cheek to blame fans, player unfamiliarity, hotel sleepovers, imjuries etc and take none of the responsibility.

I know what you mean when you say we're missing the x-factor as such but seriously if you enjoyed the match today, think Blackwell is not to blame for our defence being all over the place, believe today we were unlucky and think some of the football played by us was excellent I think I wached a different game. I feel whilst the effort was there from the players they showed no confidence, stuggled to work the Cardiff keeper enough and that our midfield was invisible again in Monty's absence. I think Quinn did OK but had too much ground to cover as Harper did nothing until the last 20 minutes.

It's still not as bad as some of the stuff under Robson but it' s not much better and the only saving grace for me is that at this stage at least the players are still trying.

I honestly thought first 15 minutes we were very good. I know that is not enough and it didn't last long, but also in parts thereafter I did think we shifted the ball much better.

I also think it is harsh to fault Blackwell too much today but I must stress I agree with you in general, and as I said above, I see no hope with KB in charge.

We aint a good side, we've got a shocking manager but I did remember today why I love watching football so much

If anybody didn't enjoy that game of football today, they don't enjoy football. Tell me what it didn't have??
