What’s frustrating is, at the end of last season Wilders words were “ we need more quality at the top of the pitch” what I can’t work out is why he hasn’t done anything about it?
We’ve signed 3 squad defenders, and apparently it’s an outstanding window.
We are crying out for 1/2 quality forward players with pace, someone who can unlock the door, we’re so one dimensional at times.

I don’t get the Lundstram situation, Mousset a lot better option and can take more chances like already said Berge was good when he came on but with the strikers 0-2 down and we’ve kinda already lost because we struggle to get 2 goals at the minute it just baffles me why this wasn’t a priority early on in the summer I know strikers take time etc

It would have been madness to start any of the new signings a week after joining the club. They are in there to put pressure on players currently in their position and any slips then they get the shirt

To be fair there are 3 new boys on the pitch at Brighton.

I don’t think it’s working them in, just that they are squad additions, which is my point!

We need players to replace the starting 11 and make us better, not an able deputy

The lads from Derby will in time possibly become long term replacement for Stevens and Baldock.
Burke is a punt that assists moving Robinson out

Not expecting us to bring in the 2 lads Chelsea have, but given we have 2 seasons worth of prem revenue can we really not afford a Billy upgrade?!
Love him as we all do, but he hasn’t quite got the touch/time required to do a full time job

Do you wear nappies in bed? Or do you just change the sheets?

Burke signed for us what, 5 days ago? Trained twice maybe.

If we're only training twice in 5 days I'm even more worried.

If we're training all 5 days and Burke can only manage 2 sessions, again I'm even more worried.

Get what I'm saying yet?

1: Signing day, doesn't train
2: Assessment day? Fitness training
3: Full training
4: Light training
5: Match day, on bench

Is that that far fetched?

Robinson ain’t no quickie
He's quicker than mcbernie and does more with ball than falls down or trips up. When mcbernie gets ball come on admit it, you don't get out of your seat lol And I think he would have scored more goals last season given the chance.

Then why did Bogle say they had already trained in their first interview (signing day)?

Great post. No overractions from me after one game, but I do find it worrying that not one of the new signings was in the first eleven tonight. We needed at the very least two players to really improve that first 11 (creative sparks). It might be a fitness thing for some of them (Burke, the Derby lads) but it worryingly looks like we have stood completely still.

I had my fears when McG got a new deal last summer - for me he was a player we needed to replace (younger, fitter, better creative spark). I am not sure we have improved on him (unless Burke can play there).

Apart from Ramsdale obviously

Got Greasy Jack into the England squad, gerrim in!!

Think you miss the point. Why did it take Burke 3 days to start training after he signed, when Bogle and Lowe both trained before and/or on the day they signed?

Well I don't work for United and I'm not involved in professional football, so I don't know for sure, but it might just be the way it fell.

We're not in every day are we for on the grass training? Bogle and Lowe might have just got here at the right time, Burke with the added complication of Robinson going the other way might not.

I'm not in the know or anything, but Burke signed the day after returning from international duty. He'd just flown back from the Czech Republic (I'm assuming that morning) and will obviously have been training and travelling for a week or so. Given all that I'm guessing he'd have been allowed a day or two off.

Who is mcbernie? Does he have a series of scottish inns? Also Robinson wasn't quick and McBurnie is a different type of player. If it was all about pace usain bolt would have been a pro but he was shite at football. Robinson had 1 gear and west brom will find out soon that he isnt a prem player

No way is mcbernie a premier league striker

JOC walking straight into the team despite barely kicking a ball during pre-season. 🤷‍♂️

Not that he was the worst performer just a bit rusty from lack of games. Robbo hadn't done bad pre-season either.
JoC schoolboy ballwatching for their first goal , with Southgate watching too !

Alan Woodward was before your time then? Best corner taker ever.

Woodward had great technique regard striking a ball....he could generate so much powerr
I also remember his corners....they were almost like shots.
I was only a kid in the mid 70‘s and always used to think “one day he’s going to score from a corner”

3. Stevens and Baldock played every game last season, so are very fit players. Whilst backup will always be needed why were these signings prioritised over a striker with a bit of pace which is quite obvious what we have needed since January.

4. Why did we let a player with some pace (Robinson) leave without at least signing a replacement first.

Maybe the club doesn't receive as much TV money as it should, therefore transfer fees are reduced, because some unnamed members on here run illegal TV steams of televised games for their own profit?

(shocking as that may be!).

If you were to come across such a member, running illegal pirate streams, and selling them to fans for your own their own personal wealth. Would you do us all a favour and inform the club?

6. Why are some fans of Sheffield United Football Club such fucking vaginas? We've played 45 minutes of our second season in the Premier League and people are losing their shit...

Not even about just these 45 minutes we have lost the last 4 premier league games that we have played and lack creativity and lack the quality in the final 3rd yet we have so far signed no one to.alleviate that problem now had we already invested in a quality striker and an attacking midfielder alongside Fleck and Berge in the midfield I personally think it would have been a damn sight more interesting and we would have been far better I dare say.

The fact everyone can see what our issue is and stems back to.last season and still nothing has been done to rectify it says it all really.

Only one question really.
Are we going to find the money to acquire a Buendia type RCM plus a PL quality striker and stay up or are we going to go down ?

Loads of questions need to be asked to Wilder because I think he’s lost the fucking plot.

Claimed we desperately need forwards, he’s swapped shit for shit and loaned out Freeman. Cherry on the cake, he’s signed no other forwards as of yet.

0 of the new signings, bar Ramsdale, started today, so why sign for the future when we need quality strikers NOW.

Looks like he’s made signings for next year in the Championship.

Why the fuck is Ben Osborne not on the pitch for the José Baxter-esque, idol bastard we call John Lundstram, that I can’t wrap my head round.
If Villa and Leeds turn us over, we should be extremely worried

Ben Osborn plays on the left, that's why he's not on the pitch for right sided midfielder John Lundstram.

I’m aware of that, but dear god, it’s the exact same role on the opposite side of the pitch, if you’re getting paid £20,000 weekly as a professional football player, I’m pretty sure that very small change shouldn’t be an issue. They should be able to adapt to play anywhere in midfield.

Did you see the state of Lundstram when he played on the left against Villa?

I don't think playing someone out of position would have helped us, we should have put Berge on for him at half time and left Norwood where he was and maybe put Ampadu on for Norwood.

At 2-0 down in that stage of the game, Berge and Ampadu would be absolute fucking nothing subs. What we actually needed would be to just go for it. McGoldrick playing in a front 3 with McBurnie and Burke, push Fleck up to a number 10 and leave the remaining midfielder playing defensive.

CW is so stubborn, either watches the team and makes no changes, or makes the complete wrong ones. Don’t understand him sometimes.

Christ, the state of some fans on here...

To people on about Deano saving those today, maybe he would have, but:
  • He isn't our keeper.
  • He never was OUR keeper.
  • Man Utd don't want to sell him.
  • He doesn't want to leave Man Utd.
  • We cant afford the fee Man Utd would ask for.
  • We can't afford the wages he's on.
So that argument is pretty irrelevant.
Ramsdale will be a more than decent keeper but he's young and will make a few mistakes but he'll learn from them, just as Deano did.

Our starting 11 does not need wholesale changes, when everyone was fit we were more than a game for anyone and ultimately finished 9th, this despite being massively impacted by a huge drop in quality when a few starters were out. Premier League football is a squad game, last season much of our squad outside the starting 11 were league 1 quality and needed improvement. I think with the people CW has brought in we now have good cover for every position on the pitch and will not be hit as hard by injury's or suspensions this year. We have done this whilst also adding quality to the starting 11 when we've had the opportunity to do so - 60m on a keeper, CM and CF who if fit, are in the first 11.
I think most fans liked Robinson and Freeman, but CW has already said they were bought to play a system we no longer play, these things happen and its hardy a massive error with the fee's involved.

Everyone, including CW, knows we need some more quality up top, but he will not put the future of the club at risk by overspending, will be patient to get the right fit and will not spend money on someone just for the sake of it.
If they manage to get the final signing over the line, and Ampadu is as good as everyone thinks he'll be, when everyone is that's potentially 5 starters added since promotion with a much improved bench.

Also, its one game, against a very good team, where we did OK but for the first 6 minutes. Sort yourself out if you're on one already...
