I must admit to doubting we have the right man here.He comes with his methods of playing as they all do! Is he in too much of a rush to implement them!.
Most managers come in and play to the strengths of the inherited squad until they can change it to there own methods.
What worries me is the players seem to be caught in two minds the Wilder way and SJ way.We are a team who limped out of the prem with a slight improvement in results as Heckingbottom got a response and the players got a bit of confidence back.
Confidence is fragile especially with a team so out of its depth last last season it would be easily lost which seems to have happened already.
I think SJ has come in and really cast aside any strengths we had (and we had some) in favour of a new way which hopefully is full of goals and excitement.
We dont have the squad at present to play his way (quality in certain areas ) we are now left with a squad lacking confidence and beleaf ! We have to get players in quickly or I can see a Robson scenario round the corner.
Trying to play square pegs in round holes is playing with fire as our results have shown so far.
I hope I'm wrong with this opinion as the outcome could be unthinkable.
I'm sure other Blades will be of a similar opinion.

Think this should be in general chat mate but that notwithstanding I think you make some valid points but we are still undercooked following the disjointed preseason so I think that’s a part of it too. I get the feeling that we’re having to do some of the preseason testing out of players and their abilities to play different systems during the season which is far from ideal. I’m as frustrated as anyone but the other way to look at this is that our”preferred” way of playing with these players was a total tram crash last season so we’ve no way of knowing if it would actually be any better and given that at some stage the major surgery was going to have to happen maybe we have to have the short term pain of this to reap future benefits ………… there you go that’s my Friday positivity all used up in one post!

Teams get promoted not expensively assemble squads.

Helps to have both = Fulham, legitimate HMS piss the league contender.

Helps to play as a team in a well drilled system = WBA, Will always put up a good fight and because of that draw more than they lose.

Doesn’t help being a £100 million pound collection of players = Sheffield United, Currently having no real idea of what the lineup or system will be other that play through the thirds.

I remember when we got promoted to the premier league, the results against Chelsea , Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester Utd in that first season we’re largely down to the fact those teams were adjusting to a new style of play we on the other hand played in a well drilled way as a team.

An utterly ridiculous, if unsurprising, viewpoint regarding whether the club have recruited the right manager. To judge him after three games, especially when it's considered he's been in post 7 weeks in total, he inherited a heavily unbalanced squad of which his analysis was disrupted by late returners from the Euros, there was/is uncertainty regarding the best two players (in terms of market value), the pre-season programme was limited to games against the side that finished bottom of the Gibraltar league and a Doncaster side that comprised numerous trialists and the incredibly slow moving market that has limited recruitment to one loan signing and no outgoings.

Did you air the same view after CW's first few games when he tried different personnel and formations with similar results? Good job the Board then and the current one didn't take such a sensationalist stance or the club would most probably still be stuck in L1 (or worse!).

Maybe best to evaluate progress and the manager's performance much later in the season i.e. post JTW once he's had chance to recruit players of his choosing and time has been given to the transformation in the team's style of play - at the moment his hands are somewhat tied and he's having to make changes 'in-flight'. If they club are still in the same situation in spring, your view may be more justified.

Yep it is too early to judge him and his record in this division is good.
My point is ! As you said lack of game time with a disrupted preseason has made it difficult to get his message across to the players.
The system we had in place was very familiar to the squad (and I'm not against changing it ! having said that I think CWAK had a winning system we just couldnt get the better players in to improve the team) with confidence at a low ebb wasnt it sound to keep the status quo and build on that with new players coming in .
No way are we going to be successful playing SJ's way with what we have ! No creativity at all ! Desperate for more quality in midfield both wide and central.
