Quality needed

We need players but we need a plan B more.

I said at the end of last season on here, that what I want Wilder to do in the summer, is get us another backup system that we're good at. Surely you can train players in two formations and they won't get confused.

We only change formation for kitchen sink moments when we've already fucked it.

WBA had some dodgy results, it wasn't working, they changed their formation and started winning.

I don't want us to change it from the start of games, but when ours isn't working it'd be great if we could do something to unsettle the opposition, throw their marking off, leave some gaps.

I would have chucked Clarke on instead of Johnson. If we could get a big mobile striker on loan in the JTW, i’d have a look at that.

If we're going to mount a serious challenge, we need to be bringing in better quality than the likes of Connor Washington and Marvin Johnson.
So basically you're saying we need better players to get better results ?
Brilliant !

Can’t help but think that some forget we were playing a team higher in the division than us and that have spent some decent money. We have no right to steamroll every team at home - there wasn’t much in it but they’re a decent/good side, no shame in losing when we’ve clearly had a go.

That's a disappointing result today, that had 0-0 written all over it until a totally uncharacteristic error for Hendo. We're still assured and confident in possession but just look to have lost a yard of pace and a bit of energy of late, we're quite leggy and we're at risk of overplaying it. There was at least half a dozen examples of when we could just get the ball in the box and see what happens.

For me:
  • Washington is improving.
  • Baldock wasn't great today.
  • Both sides shirt pulling was over the top and risky, defend properly.
  • Their keeper is poor, I've never seen someone flap at more crosses.
  • Leon deserves a place back in the side when fit.
  • January needs to hurry up!
We're still a solid side but not ruthless enough. We have a good squad, all on the same wavelength. There's no way they are as close knit a unit as ours are, for example. There's also no way they are the best side in the division, Boro, Derby and no increasingly so, Villa look more threatening than Leeds do.

UTB.

I was really annoyed reading “view from Leeds.” When some Loiner said we were the weakest team in the top six. Well on reflection.........we probably are.

We've got the same record as FLDC, so we're not awful when you even it out, but we're definitely the least consistent and that is going to cost us if we don't sort it.

When FLDC lose its usually because of the opposition, when we lose its mostly because of ourselves.

I think “powder puff” is the phrase I’m looking for.

Couldnt agree more.hardly spent money 5th before this game.matched leeds ad most teams in this division wilder and his team deserve a medal for the position we find ourselves in .cut out the silly mistakes and we may finish in play offs.fans too quick to write team off cant see a better manager out there for us.with lack of money which as we see with certain teams doesnt mean sucess u.t b

Reason Duffy was less effective is simple...any side that does their homework know he's the one.player who really makes things happen. Mark him out of the game and we lose a lot of our effectiveness.

We need another Duffy type player and a fast clinical striker.or we will finish 8th-10th...and risk losing Wilder in the summer.

I don't think the midfield turned up today Norwood and fleck both off the pace and duffy well I don't think he made any impact at all not like him

We did OK today, one bollock dropped but we do lack up front and the passing has been reduced a bit which seems to impact on the chances created.

We need a good old-fashioned sh*t liner who will put the ball in the net every time (or at least MOST times) he gets a chance.

What's Keith Edwards doing these days?

Is there one in the academy?

We're not too bad are we?

Without that quality, we'll continue to tread water. Can't fault the lads today, they gave it everything but we are short on quality when it comes to trying to change things around.

Agree but unless we are offered over 20 million there’s no instant fix.

Far more to Keith Edwards game than being a shitliner.

I agree, but wouldn’t we settle for just a bit of good quality sh*tlining at the current time?

I don't think it's a matter of quality it's a matter of cutting out stupid errors it seems every game somebody of quality fucks up if they didn't we'd be top by a country mile I know this division depends on small margins, but with us the margins are of our own making
