My point is there was nothing to penalise, and the comparison with Norwich is wide of the mark in my view.

I’ve played and watched football for some time and I know when someone is taking the piss. If I was reffing yesterday I’d have booked more than Woodburn because I don’t like players taking the piss out of the paying public.

Minimum wage issues aside, that sounds like a cracking job, especially if you can get a free go.

Time-wasting, diving, swearing at the officials, waving an imaginary card etc. They're all shithousing and not particularly nice things to see on the pitch.

But, it's up to the referee to clamp down on it. It's very simple for them to do too. Warning, and then card. If they continue, they get another card.

If the teams on the pitch want to risk any of the above, then the onus is on the ref to stop it. The game would be cleaned up very quickly if there was consistency in this area.

I hate time wasting. I get it that winning ugly is better than not winning, and I think we have been in the receiving end far more than giving it out, but for me the game is there to be played, not to be avoided.

The only QPR fan I’ve ever known of was Eddie off Bottom. I just assumed their fans were paid extras from down the road at BBC television centre. Not to get all Wendy about it, but QPR are about as nondescript, nothing of a club as it gets. The Coventry City of London.

I’m not sure but I think Harold Steptoe was a QPR fan.
