You'll not be short of pubs full of blades, now the winning streak is in full flow and the sun is out recreational drinking has hit new heights in blades world.

In 16 years since your last match pubs have probably changed hands and names but not a great deal has changed.

Cricketers has smartened up a bit and a great atmosphere, scholar is still a bit student orientated and lager is served in plastic glasses but they have a big screen for football pre and post match, bell jar (formally the Albion) is ok, maybe a bit over priced but a nice place, barrel is still a dump, Crown is a favourite meeting place, plenty of bar staff and 3 good sized rooms plus a beer garden, Cremone is ok but slow service as not enough bar staff on.

I may (or may not) be at Bramall Lane for the first time in 16 years for the Brentford game.

As I'm not actually from Sheffield and like a drink, I've been trying to find out the score with what pubs near the ground are frequented by home fans on matchdays but anything I can find on Google relates to away fans.

The last time I was down we drank in the city centre before the game and after the game had one drink up near the away end (from Google street view it may have been The Cricketers) before heading back into town for the night.

I saw the youtube video of fans watching the semi final draw in The Scholar so that appears to be one haunt but other than that I'm pretty clueless.

Lord Nelson, Earl St is good, but further and my favourite is The Red Lion on Charles St.
Pay and display nearby if driving and not too far from the station either.

Why? simply why? whats the thing with you lot on here, real ale stinks, its over priced, and well it tastes shit. Get in the Penny and drink John Smiths. I go to the match with a large crowd and none of us are in to this real ale shit.

What time did your Mum say you had to be home for Sonny?

Nah, I know you're not a nipper but larger? Please.

I'll go for the real German or Czech stuff but not the fizzy shit like Fosters, or 1664 that's brewed in England

I'll drink real ale sometimes, but prematch in the lion it's Carling all the way. The carling in there is distinctly better than in the Cremorne.

Used to drink in the Cremorne until Robsons era but the beer went shit and some games they weren't even open! Plus the lion had fast pour taps. Cremorne was like the plant In ET - when the football is shite the place goes downhill. Rarely been back since.

Sheaf island is excellent and I only tend to drink beers with comedy names in there, I believe these are real ales. Smell funny, taste great, make you shite thru the eye of the needle. Perfect for any Sunday when you've pulled a rotund one night stand... They don't half shift when you've dropped a real ale flavour into the Dutch oven :)

You obviously didn't wear your dusk mask down t'pit ;)

John Smiths is shit I avoid it at all costs It cannot compare with the likes of a nice pint of Moonshine or a nice pint of Farmers Blonde,.Real Ale can be over priced like in The Rutland and Red Lion (£2.80 to £3.50) If you go in the Globe you can get Farmers Blonde for around £2.20 a pint if you go in Fannys its all £2.60 a pint if its 3.8 % or 5.0%
You are living in the past Real Ale is the future a bit like Garlic Bread was a few years ago ;)

What I'd like to know is where can you get Jaipur and good food near the ground now the Dev Cat has stopped selling Jaipur? Don't mention the Station Tap, please.

Ta for any help on this

I bought a pint of John Smiths a couple of years ago it was awful, I left most of it.
I mine swept it and agree it was rough, please leave me better quality dregs in future. Nearly ruined my day out.

Real Ale ,tastes shit ,lays heavy on you, makes your shit black and hard to wipe ,cost a bomb and is drunk by boring fuckers with beards and tasches so they can still smell and taste it after they've left the crap boozer its usually served in. And that's from someone who has drunk bitter all his life.:)

Fixed it for ya:

Fizzy Ale ,tastes shit, full of chemicals, lays heavy on you, makes your shit brown and hard to wipe ,costs too much and is drunk by boring fuckers in tracksuits so they can still smell and taste it after they've left the plastic boozer its usually served in. And that's from someone who has drunk bitter all his life.o_O

Whats wrong with beards thought they were all the rage nowadays !!
I do like a nice pint of Stones but Real Ale is a welcome compliment to the mass produced beers Stones and Smiths etc
There are plenty of different ones to suit most tatses I dont find any of it heavy like Smiths is
Have you ever tried Black Sheep it is a fine pint

I'm an unsophisticated lager drinker.

Any pub with Blades fans therein will be good enough for me.

Stay in the copthorne, not that expensive good breakie for next morning hang over after a good session. Just picture it final whistle goes still a bit pissed literally stubble round to there and fall asleep job done. In fact aim to have your last drink before the game in there as well and you can have "a lucky blades lager dump" before the game in piece and quiet ;)

Oh for 2.80-3.50 to be overpriced... Damn the south.

Always park in Queens opposite ice rink..nice couple of pints cheap aswell. . Last time I went in cricketers Billy whitehurst was behind the bar lol

Last time I was in the Red Deer on Pitt St (behind West St) I'm sure they had Jaipur but it was before Christmas.

Well, that's the digs booked so it looks like the pub crawl is on!

Three questions.

I have a bit of time to kill when I arrive so I intend to take a wee wander down to the ticket office to buy my ticket in advance to save doing it later.

What hours is it open during the day and where is it located (can't see anything about this on the ticket section on the club site)?

Also, is there a club shop at the stadium which is open during the day?

Cheers.
