I‘m disappointed to see that the women are playing at the Lane again tomorrow, it looks as though the pitch needs some recovery time after the recent bad weather. Ndiaye in particular seemed to struggle with his footing last night but he wasn’t the only one and we don’t want to level things up for less-skilled teams by having a playing surface that doesn’t play to our strengths. Burnley’s pitch looked to be in much better condition, so it’s not just a time of year thing.

Two weeks or so until the next home game?
 
I don't know this to be true, but it seems likely we're not using the heating? Maybe we're not paying for the upkeep at all at the moment. Didn't someone on here say we're not paying any bills until the takeover is finalised?

I think we struggle with our footing because we water the bastard thing all the time.

The last womens home game was cancelled because we hadn't turned on the undersoil heating

And I'm not sure they're using the lighting units that are required for growth?

I'm sure they are ,when I've been down for a few events they always have them on .

The pitch would have been frozen if no under soil heating so that puts that one to bed.
 



Needs more garlic - it's the future.


THE SMELL OF GARLIC

Walk around Old Trafford during the week and sometimes your nostrils are hit with the strong aroma of garlic. More often than not the source is coming from the pitch, with garlic being used to ward off potentially harmful parasites.

"There are millions of different species and if you get the wrong sort they can be detrimental to the outside and inside of the plant," Tony clarified.

"So, what we have to do is apply garlic, we have samples taken away, and as and when eggs are about to hatch we apply this liquid garlic. Everybody working at or walking around the ground certainly knows when we’ve applied it!"



Plus of course it keeps the vampires away ( insert name of favourite vampire here ).
 
I heard about the pockmarked pitch.
Pockmarking got several mentions on the commentary about the pockmarked pitch.
“Pockmarks?” thinks I. “The pockmarked pitch does look a bit pockmarked now someone has drawn my attention to numerous pockmarks on the pockmarked pitch”.
Looking back now, I’m unsure how I didn’t notice the pockmarks on the pockmarked pitch before being alerted to the number of pockmarks on the pockmarked pitch.
Strange.
 
Agreed. Action is needed.
I'm sure I saw Berge planting a small row of petunia's on the John Street side of the pitch in the second half last night.

We can't afford garlic.
 
I used to help at a set up in Dronfield where both the men's and women's teams used the same pitch. The women's games being Sunday fixtures. It was noticeable that the playing surface seemed to cut up much less from the women's games than the men's.

I see that the ladies team are playing at the Lane again tomorrow, so the pitch will be used 4 times in 8 days. It didn’t seem to have recovered very much by the Wrexham match, despite the mini break - I just hope that it doesn’t affect our fluid playing style, particularly Ndiaye.
