It would be nice to see pics of any completed works or works in progress, regarding the upgrades to ground facilities needed for the Prem.

Once the old pavilion is gone there are rumours a new hotel will be constructed.

Demolished for car parking spaces, absolute disgraceful. That beautiful building should have been utilised not knocked down.
Dick Wragg should have been sent to prison
Things are progressing fairly well, thank you. Regrettably they found a disused well when re-laying the Desso pitch. It is several metres deep and requires drilling out and filling with concrete to prevent any players falling down it. At present it's a bit like one of them lion traps in a jungle - only a thin layer of artificial Desso is preventing someone from treading on it and falling to their death.

But everything is in hand.
Well, I say "everything", I really mean, "most things". There's a bit of an issue with the stadium clock. It seems to have stopped permanently at the exact moment that we made a bid for Neil Maupay, eerily enough. It hasn't moved since. We've had some blokes in to look at it. They've wound it up and shook it and even hit it with a hammer, but still the clock won't work. There is a suspicion that until the Maupay deal is finalised, the clock will never work again!

Meanwhile, in the refreshments area, new tills are being installed, slower ones, so they don't race ahead of the folks serving the food.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!All glory holes have been filled in in Kop bogs.
☹
It does seem a waste of biblical proportions, especially when factoring in it's historical value. Believe it was YCCC Headquarters at the time of building and subsequent extensions. Think of all the cricketing greats from around the world that played from there from W.G., and probably before, to Sir Geoffrey. Ideal for a museum of sport plus pub/restaurant etc., but it's always easier to say these things after the event. Probably seen these before, just to illustrate.Demolished for car parking spaces, absolute disgraceful. That beautiful building should have been utilised not knocked down.

Now that would have been ideal for a pre match bar and corporate, plus home the museum, a distinct lack of vision in the 70's
Unfortunately that seems to have just been going around in Sheffield. Absolutely disgusting what the council have knocked down over the years.

Original View attachment 57246 and with extensionsView attachment 57247 Note roof, defining new parts from original, then 1911 showing what I knew as radio commentary box on the left. Finally as us oldens 'll remember it with balcony extension.View attachment 57260View attachment 57258
Does that count a one of the requirement for bringing the Lane up to PL standard?
Empire Day 1911, largest crowd ever at BDTBL believe that's fact. The Hitler Youth believe renamed to PC Brigade. Least that's what it seems like from where I'm standing. By the way, it shouldn't have been the bottom photo it should have been 3rd in line maybe my PC is PC.Is the bottom photo when we had a visit from the Hitler Youth?

Douglas Jardine, in the summer after the Bodyline victory series, was reduced to tears by the standing ovation he received from the Bramall Lane crowd, when he went out to bat.

Can't add owt on the cricket knowledge front, but as a seasoned ale cart, I can confirm that it is the Anchor Brewery in the background way before Arnold Laver was a glint in Great Grandad Laver's eye.
I am sure Ball_Sup (Phil) will be along soon to tell us about Anchor's 9.8% rhubarb, raddish coffee and creosote porter.....
What an incredible picture. I wish we'd kept part of the old pavilion.Once the old pavilion is gone there are rumours a new hotel will be constructed.
