Problem is McCabe

In the interests of balance. Don't forget McCabe has lost £24m in last two years on club. There comes a time when you have to draw the line.

Sorry, but it is true.

Non of his own fault obviously! However I do agree with you and that is why you draw a line at bringing in over the hill players

Yes, and the 20000+ that were turning up in the championship and the 17000+ that are turning up now have spent a hell of a lot of money following this club home and away, and seeing it spiralling into the Third Division, and none of them appointed Bryan Robson, Kevin Blackwell, or Micky Adams.

If McCabe wanted to make a profit, he should not have bought SUFC.

If McCabe pulled the plug we would be doomed. Administration likely, and years in the wilderness. The current situation is a tea party in comparison.

It has been said before - be careful what you wish for.

So since at least 2010 we have not been in the wilderness then? I think one or two on here, myself included, would severely disagree with that statement.

If i hear that saying one more time..

Who the fuck wished for this then?

It is easy with the benefit of hindsight to crab past managers and appointments. They were failures but this was not by design.

I am just making the point that McCabe has already invested a lot of money in the club, true he may have lost most of this through poor judgement, but at least he put the money in.

Right now I don't blame McCabe or Wilson for our position, it is the players who have let the side down by not performing, in the last month.

I also doubt there was much option but to let Blackman go. Reading and Crystal Palace came after him. I don't think we were touting him about for sale.

I hope I'm not being too contrary, but I 'm fed up with everyone carping on and moaning, instead of focusing on supporting the team and getting promotion.

Hope we can do it and then most of this forum will have to eat humble pie. I thought we were supporters come rain or shine?

Our crowds are around 5000 better than the next best in the division, we are regularly taking 2000+ away from home, we have sold out practically 1500 tickets for Shrewsbury next Saturday on the back of a run of no wins in 6 including 3 consecutive home defeats. There are around 16-17000 Blades turning out come rain or shine to watch these overpaid undeperforming cunts wearing red and white striped shirts every week.

That's all fine, but McCabe deserves much of the stick he's getting. In terms of where we are, I blame him for us being in this division. I also credit him for the state of the ground, chasing down West Ham, the academy and our year in the Prem. But unless he changes his ways and learns from his mistakes, he'll continue to earn the stick he gets. All he has to do is be more honest. If we have to accept money when offered then say so.

I wholly support Wilson and back the team, even if some of them do need a shoeing for their efforts in the last month...

Our Turry gettin off scott free.

He did a lot of damage, should have stuck to farming pigs

I've always suspected that Warnock fancied a long leash and to get one recommended the most incompetent football executive he'd come across.

If you could trace to one point in time, the fairly minor disaster in all of our lives and the McCable family's genuine tragedy in losing £50+ million and wrecking the club we all love, the day they entrusted any kind of responsibility to Terry Robinson would be it.

And round it goes. McCabe hasnt put a bean of his own money in. When will some people understand its other peoples money he plays with not his own. That is how it works. His cash is locked well out of the way. Thats why you see Chairmen of defunct clubs still driving round in big cars living in big houses.

Hardly a wreck when compared to Portsmouth, Luton Town, etc. We're in choppy waters, certainly.

(Nice to see a picture of one of my earliest heroes - Colin Collindridge!)

I understand why people don't want to change, they must see something in Danny Wilson that I don't see. Without sounding like a twat asking, can someone tell me what Danny Wilson is all about and what his football ethos is and what it stands for?

Just because we have gone through a glut of managers, it doesn't mean we should stick with the wrong one because as I see it things are in decline and I don't see what he's doing about it... at the moment it looks like nothing.
.
The problem with DW, IMO, is the bloke is old-school. Don't know how old he is exactly but his ethos seems to be throw in a few old heads and hope that they show the rest what needs to be done. Ie higginbottam/ maguire, kitson/ porter now robson/ Doyle/ macdonald. Now I know apart from maguire the rest are not that young but compared to, higginbottam, kitson and Robson vastly less experienced. Most people's views on here (not all) think we're in free fall, hope I'm proved wrong, but so do I. So if and when promotion/ play-offs is out of reach this season, I would like to see the kids given a chance, keep them there regardless of results so that we have a unit that gels eventually. Thank DW for his services, let him go next season and bring in a younger, hungrier forward thinking manager. Before anyone asks me who, there must be plenty young up and coming managers out there who would jump at the chance, our own Morg's for one. UTB

if someone could say tomorrow weve got a new guy buying the club. hes not got a pot to piss in, but hes a football man and isnt a liar. we will appoint adkins as manager, he wont have a load of money to spend but will be able to bring in players available for small fees or free transfers. we will fund this by getting rid of the 10 or so players in our squad who are too old or slow to physically move faster than a snail. keep our gates to around the 20,000 mark and we wont sell off players on the cheap anymore, and fund the playing squad purely on our income as a club. it may take us 2 or 3 years to get promoted, or it may take us just 1. nobody knows, but we will all pull in the same direction.

who would really say oh no please i love our danny and kev. dont change things! really? im guessing round about nobody.

and how would you 'get rid' of these 10 players and make some profit to fund replacements?

feel free to throw 30 - 50 million mccabes way and we can start afresh , if you dont have that sort of money cant see how we can alter things, the theory of dumping our chairman often excludes who else is going to fund us, I suppose some would welcome liquidation which at present is our plan b
If anyone who wants him out can offer a plan c be glad to hear it

Well luckily for us the following players are out of contract in the summer.

Cresswell, Porter, Kitson, Williams, Robson, and Higginbottom are out of contract off the top of my head.

I am sure Danny has a list of 30 + players to replace them. How the fuck do you build for the future with this transfer policy, nevermind the next division

How bad would it get? Would we be playing Rochdale instead of Bury?

Admin would be better than what we have now - the reality is the only person admin would be bad for is Kevin McCabe.

Can somebody explain to me how McCabe can put the club into administration when the only person we owe money to is McCabe?

To my mind the only realistic scenarios are

- soldier on and hope McCabe can find a football orientated buyer based on the evidence of our loyalty and support, but risk crowds dwindling towards 10,000 and being sold to an asset stripper at a knock down price or

- withdraw our support en masse from the start of next season and force McCabe to liquidate the business.

If Accrington and Aldershot could get back into the league I'm sure we could do it too. With the property slump a fans consortium could probably finance the purchase of the assets. I enjoyed Division 4, and i'm sure the Northern Counties East league or wherever it is we have to start again would have its attractions, i'm just not sure i'm
ready for it yet.

Ask me again in May

You must be joking. Bramall Lane would have gone; we'd have to find a new ground. I take it you've never watched non-league football?

Much more of the the stuff on show this season and it really does start to make you think if it would matter.

I'm not joking about the options, to my mind our best hope is keep turning up for punishment. I fear gates dwindling and a living dead situation with no prospect of investment.
