Problem is McCabe

and how would you 'get rid' of these 10 players and make some profit to fund replacements?

half of them will be out of contract anyway, the rest i reckon some mugs would take doyle and porter off our hands. sell mcdonald and maguire. pay off cresswell.

with the massive reduction in wages we would be able to bring in pretty much an entire new team. i know thats a lot easier said than done, but with a reputable owner and adkins and a club of our stature, we could attract the cream of out of contract players from the lower leagues and even released championship players.

im not saying it will happen, i know it wont. but christ we have the stadium in the division and the best fan base in the division. we deserve a lot more than the current regime is giving us. are we really a smaller, less prestigious club than southampton? or norwich? or brentford? or bournemouth? if we had the right setup, even in this division someone like adkins would jump at the chance to manage us. its a sign of the shambles mccabe has got us in, that an adkins type manager is an impossible pipe dream.

In the interests of balance. Don't forget McCabe has lost £24m in last two years on club. There comes a time when you have to draw the line.

Sorry, but it is true.

''feel free to throw 30 - 50 million mccabes way and we can start afresh , if you dont have that sort of money cant see how we can alter things, the theory of dumping our chairman often excludes who else is going to fund us, I suppose some would welcome liquidation which at present is our plan b
If anyone who wants him out can offer a plan c be glad to hear it''

Then if he doesn't want to invest anymore he would be better walking away now. The club is too big to operate in this division without making a loss. The more the debt on the club rises the less chance he has of ever selling us or getting his money back.

The current way McCabe is operating the club could see us marooned in this division for a long time.
On Hartley Hare's projection if we don't go up this year and then stay in League 1 for 2 more seasons McCabe will have flushed another 36 million down the pan.

If he's willing to sell for Bladetoolongs suggested 30 million my plan C would be to do both us and himself a favour and fuck off now leaving both himself and the club better off.

Of course then we really would have to worry about who owns the freehold

That could be our downfall as its the property developers ticket to righting off his losses.

Maybe we should approach Forest for their owners ? Or Blackburn Or Preston ,be careful what you wish for
well at least they are in a division higher than us and on the fringes of promotion.. so right now that wouldn't seem so bad actually

then it moves into the realm of politics.. are you seriously suggesting the council would dare give them the planning permission with 250000 potential voters ie half the city's votes watching on??

I would like to see the kids given a chance, keep them there regardless of results so that we have a unit that gels eventually. Thank DW for his services, let him go next season and bring in a younger, hungrier forward thinking manager. Before anyone asks me who, there must be plenty young up and coming managers out there who would jump at the chance, our own Morg's for one. UTB

We cannot afford to limit ourselves by saying "give youth a chance". What if the youth we have is just not good enough. The academy will not provide enough players to create a team that competes.

By all means emphasise it, but until we know that we have young players who are good enough, there is no need to limit ourselves in this way.

Diego De Girolamo.
Italy Under-18s player. Comes from that well known Italian village of Chesterfield. That must make him a better choice than Porter for starters.

I'm all for trying him SV. I just never understand people's desire to shoehorn us into a style / system / structure that will only serve to limit us. I personally get no more pleasure from home grown talent, just like they all move at the drop of a hat.
