The American geezer, director and the Prince's adviser said on Sheffield Live last week that we have to scout abroad because British/English players are expensive.

What makes them more expensive ?

Wilder seems comfortable around British players. Not sure about some of these guys from overseas who appear to have too much attitude with all their feigning injuries and diving.

Because a world class English player is as rare as rocking horse shit.

I think it's really a supply and demand thing maybe? Quality British players cost perhaps because there are less of them than "quality" foreign players?

I watch Ice Hockey too, and the principle is similar. There aren't that many quality Brits, so when any become available they command decent contracts. Whereas it's easier to pick up foreign hockey players because the market is saturated.

Girona FC (ground capacity 13,500) have just got into La Liga and beat Real Madrid at the weekend.

Manchester City loaned five players to Girona during the transfer window, in which Abu Dhabi-owned parent company City Football Group joined forces with the brother of manager Pep Guardiola to buy an 88 per cent stake in the Catalan side. No loan fees were paid on those signings, something to which La Liga took exception under rules capping how much Spanish clubs can spend each season.

It therefore sought to force Girona to deduct what it considered to be the true market value of those deals from their overall budget of €80 million (£73 million), something over which they are still in talks with CFG.

They sound like quite a step up from Red Star Woluwe.
They've been absolutely flying recently and have had multiple promotions. They're in the second division and have been getting attendances of 7,000 - and averaging 1,500 away from home. They've just finished top of the opening round of the division, above the likes of Cercle Brugge and Lierse.
They might even be worth scouting for players.
The original Beerschot were a well-established club in Belgium (UEFA Cup appearances, etc.). They went bust in 2013. KFCO incorporated their name. Hence they instantly become a "bigger" club than their current League position.
Equivalent in England: Imagine if Stoke went bust, and were "incorporated" into Port Vale. You'd have "PV Stoke FC" (or something) playing at the Brittannia in red & white in League 2.
KFCO do seem to like a foreign player or two. Looking through their squad they've got players from Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Ukraine, Holland, Austria, Morocco, Togo, Congo DR, Ivory Coast & Cameroon!

PV Stoke FC. A capacity crowd wouldn't get the total IQ into double figures and imagine the fashion meltdown with all those star jumpers and stack heels in one place at the same time.

I saw Beerschot lose 5-1 to Club Brugge a few years ago. I hope we don't poach any of their defenders, they were excellent...

I have a friend who is from Congo, formerly known as Zaire, a former Belgian colony.

He tells me that any decent footballers in Congo are farmed out to Belgian clubs.
Says it’s a bigger industry than people realise. Lukaku being the most famous Congo player.

Once they’ve been in Belgium for so long their gain rights and can be classed as Belgian Nationals and therefore European meaning they can easily work in other European countries. It gets past the normal work strict permit rules applicable to African nationals.
Not after March 2019 matey

We have quality young English players have we not won the World Cup for under 17’s. The problem is the Premier League never give them a chance do they. Maybe coming out of the EU will class European players as foreigners and only international level European players will be allowed work permits and then maybe our youngsters will have a better chance of at least being given a chance

If the Pl had less of them c*nts like Tevez, but I fear all that money grubbing is too ingrained in the PL now.

Part of the reason I like the Blades is their local connections.

Sheffield co-owner, Sheffield manager, Sheffield Captain.

One of the last proper clubs.

Now playing proper football. :)

The sheer number of OAP "skin birds" would apparently be enough to create a gravity wave, which would form an anti-matter bubble surrounding the greater Burslem area. Scientists speculate that this would lead to an acceleration in time, inside the bubble, so that sanitation, indoor toilets, and friendliness could in fact become present in the town.

Lovely stuff.
