If the goal stood it would be a completely different story. We played ok yesterday, granted we didn't win but there are positives to be taken out of that game. We didn't get hammered which you would of expected given the amount they have spent. Just goes to show Wilder's correct. Pots of cash don't win games. I'm sure he will assess what's required going forward. We need more service to the forwards imo. Possibly another striker.

Put some money in or fuck off... we have the manager, we can win this league with decent backing... that is all .. no argument

Perhaps you wouldn't mind running off to S6 and asking Tunaman for some spare cash? He says he'd love to pay for everything anywhere anytime but nasty people won't let him. Maybe you would like paying double for your season ticket to see a team playing in red nylon imitation Manu shirts emblazoned with the club crest of a dead Dolphin at the Chansiri Dome.

Please beware of stupid suggestions like getting the board out. Just have a reminder of how Chesterfield have fallen since nutters insisted that their chairman & co should leave. They did AND TOOK THEIR MONEY WITH THEM!! My guess Chesterfield will be a non-league club by the end of this season.

Just be careful about what you ask for.

we haven't lost in so long that people have forgotten how to handle it.. we narrowly lost against the highest rated team in the league.. get a grip lads
It's as if people expected us to just carry on like last season without taking into account we're in a higher league. Some posters have no concept of relativity. If we lose 3-0 to Barnsley this kind of reaction might be warranted and justifiable but we lost away to one of the promotion favourites. I'm tempted to go an a rant but I'm going to put most of the crap down to people posting when they're pissed and disappointed.

I missed the graphic before the game on Sky, so went online to look at spending of championship clubs.

I found this table for the nett spending over the last 5 years. Some crazy spending has gone on

Jesus . If Villa don't get out of this league pretty damn quick they are well and truly up shit creek without a paddle . Steve Bruce at the helm too :confused::confused:

All in all I think yesterday saw us as a team not lacking in quality but one still finding our feet in this division . A couple of quality additions wouldn't go amiss though :)

ahh yes, the inevitable poster that wants to spend other peoples money.

Do we actually know yet that the squad we have isn't good enough?

Our S6 neighbours are proving quite convincingly that just spending money on transfers and MASSIVE wages doesn't buy success.

If you listen to CW's pre/post match interviews for the past year, you should have realised that we are doing it differently to spending huge amounts.

It doesn't have to be massive spending but we haven't invested that much at all since going up and it looks very much as if we should have been looking at strengthening with some quality, particularly up front.

The problem is not only transfers, but wages. I am told we have made a bid for Coady of £2m - but what about the wages?

Our massive friends in S6 have 6 forwards - Winnall apparently went to the piggies on £25K per week with Rhodes on £52K per week, the rest between 40-45K - some of our fans need to do some Dacia maths. Forrestieri kicked up a fuss on £35K so gets a pay rise. This is what happens at a club and could happen at ours.

We have been told we are doing it a different way - whether that continues is debatable - but for sure to break into the Boro/Wolves/Villa type of spending it isn't going to happen unless we get bought out by Far Eastern buyers which in turn brings it's own headaches.

It's a dilemma.

Spending money throwing money at never worked in the past just look at the pigs. Give our team time to adjust to this division FFS

The reason we are doing it a different way is we have a chairman who doesn't have the money to spend. Wednesday have got one who seems to have plenty to spend.

It's no use quoting Wednesday along the lines that if you spend loads you waste it. My question is if Wilder had the same budget as Carvalahal are you saying he'd waste it on the same kind of shite as he has ? My guess is Wilder would spend it very wisely and the likes of Coady would already be here playing for us.

Spending doesn't have to be on the level of Wednesday, Middlesbrough or Wolves but we could have been looking at investing a bit more than we have.
Don't get the move for Coady - not sure he adds greatly to what we have, is another relatively slow player when we desperately need pace and isn't a striker.

There will always be exceptions but of course spending big increases your chance of success. 90% of the teams who have gone up to the premier league in the last 15 years have done it on the back of significant investment.

Meaningless coming from you

Aww bless.....you remembered me saying that in response to a previous post and thought it would be good to say it back to me. Top banter.

I will repeat, meaningless coming from you

Seem to recall he was a pacy box to box middy. Made great runs to finish, often caught offside though. Silly sausage should have run slower.

Wolves moved him back from midfield to right back and he's now playing centre half.
A long way from a pacy box to box midfielder.

He'll be there to allow Fleck and Coutts the re-assurance to play further forward and get them nearer the forwards

After a promising start when the midfield was prepared to drive forward they resorted to a lot of pointless passing from defence to midfield to defence on Saturday.
One of Carruthers or Duffster is going to have to step up and make sure we do have a midfielder who is pushing forward and causing the opposition midfield to think about defending as on Saturday, for a lot of the time, our front two were pretty isolated.
