Just wondering how many teams have stayed up with our current record of 8 defeats from the first 9 in championship history?Completely pointless thread.
We're not in a relegation battle.

Some fans you guys are if you're slating somebody who's come into probably the worst Blades side since 2011..Worse.
You needed 51 points to stay up last season. To have 10 games to spare at the end, that'd be 48 points from 27 games from now, the equivalent of an 82 point team.I reckon you'd be better recalling 2000-01, 2001-02, damp squib mid table transitional seasons under Warnock where we had little firepower, nowt to really excite us but were never really in bother either.
I'm sure we'll move out of any danger quite comfortably, but leave ourselves with about 10 completely bleedin pointless games at the back end of the season to 'blood the youngsters'.
Was it Reading ffs I’m oldIf by Bristol City away you meant Reading you would be correct

We most certainly are!Completely pointless thread.

Yep. A fifth of the season gone & we have 3pts & a bang average squad that don’t give a shit. How else can you see it?In October?
Nah.

What about any of our performances this season gives you that degree of confidence? Luton fans talked like that all last season and sleep walked to relegation. There are teams that are doomed to relegation and then there are teams who just have appalling starts to the season.
I firmly see us as being the latter.
Say we take 4 or 6 points from our next two games, which is entirely doable, all talk of relegation will be quickly forgotten.

None so far. As far as points accumulated are concerned both Everton and Newcastle only had 3 after 10 games in the EPL having drawn 3 and lost 7. Both survived at the end of the season although Everton's survival is bitter sweet as it was at our expense when they won the dubious game against Wimbeldon 3-2 in the last match of the season.Just wondering how many teams have stayed up with our current record of 8 defeats from the first 9 in championship history?
I hope you’re right (obviously!) but I just don’t see where the goals are coming from. If Wilder persists with Canon, which I think he will a la Brewster, then we’re toast for sure.I might be wrong and we may well go down but I don't think we will.
I think we're a team that's massively underperforming at the minute.
It's still far too early to say we're in a relegation battle.
Brilliant GraphMan - you've always got one you put in the oven earlier!
Forgive my ignorance, but which team was SISU?I saw us go down for the first time in 1968. The Board had sold the family silver in letting Jones and Birchenall go. They had upset the finest manager we ever had in John Harris. We struggled all season as a result.
Incredibly we looked down the week before but went to Burnley away wining 0-2. Thats after having thrown away a 2-0 lead against relegation certainties Fulham 2 matches earlier to lose 2-3.
So the last game was at home to Chelsea. Win and we would stay up. It was that simple. Some pigs anxious to see us relegated went onto the Bramall Lane End and stood with Chelsea. At half time we were one up and looking like we were staying in the top division. Then consistent with over the years when the pressure was on we crumbled and Chelsea scored twice relegating us.
As far as relegations I've experienced it wasn't as bad as the last day loss to Chelsea again in the Basset years. We were four places above the relegation places with minutes left only for Chelsea to score and Everton have a dubious result against the wombles with Hans I'll let the ball crawl into the net Segers in goal.
When we went down to the fourth division they changed the 2 points for a win to 3 the season after. We would have stayed up with what we had achieved if that had applied at the time. That along with a positive goal difference. Again we choked on the last day much as we were to under Warnock against Wigan.
What still sticks in the throat is years later discovering SISU cheated us out of our top division status in 1968. SISU's bent chairman bribed Southampton players to draw with them 0-0. Confirmed by Terry Paine Southampton captain in his autobiography. It was SISU's first year in the top division. They were to stay there for another 33 years with many questionable last game escapes. That brown paper bag must have been very deep.
So in summary if it goes to the last day our record is such that bet on us going down.
Coventry CityForgive my ignorance, but which team was SISU?
the only one I can think of is Sunderland.
When will it become relevant? Not really relevant cos it hardly ever happens.
Every situation is different.
