Hi, preston fan here looking forward to visiting bramall lane on monday night, should be a good atmosphere and a good game, although, im honestly not expecting anything and am very much expecting to see you lot in the premiership next season, if we hadnt made the play-offs, i would have been backing you over the dingles, the welsh and the southerners!

anyway, ive been to bramall lane a couple of times in the past but have travelled by train, this time i will be driving and am wondering what parking is like around the ground? is it better to park elsewhere and get the tram or will i be able to park relatively close to the ground?

thanks for your responses in advance and good luck in the final! (unless a miracle happens on monday night!)

Your more than likely be able to park closer than where the tram would drop you off anyway. If you arrive early you should be able to get quite close to the ground. I usually go by bus so my input isn't really valid:P I suggest waiting for some of the oldies to come on :D

Good luck anyway bud, always enjoy and get on well with preston fans for some strange reason :)

Welcome to the forum Mike.

The parking depends on how early you're planning to get to the Lane? If you're heading across relatively early, there *should* be plenty of parking on the terraced-housing roads that encompass the ground. Be careful of sneaky parking restrictions though... the parking attendants love matchdays round the lane.

If the parking around the houses looks a bit tight... head out down Charlotte Road, cross the traffic lighted cross roads and see if there's any space on the bridge that runs between B&Q and Netto. You used to be able to park on both sides of the road here and I don't know that it's any different.

Otherwise, have a look at the Sheffield Council website HERE for on-road and council run carparks. These only charge until 18:30/20:30 but aren't in the best of areas.

If you do fancy getting the tram, HERE is a link to the park and ride information. The sensible one to pick would be Nunnery Square but one thing I did clock the other day, which I didn't know before, is that the park and ride car park closes relatively early. I can't for the life of me remember what time it was, but remember thinking it was a bit daft.

If you go to Meadowhall, be careful - make sure you are actually parking at the Shopping Centre and not the Retail Park. The Retail Park has a two hour restriction on it and people can get ticketed whereas the Shopping Centre doesn't. Again, I can't remember what time the actual park and ride car park closes.

In the event of extra time and penalties, it might be worth forgoing the park and ride car park at Meadowhall and parking on the open-air part of the car park near Next, right by the riverside. This section of the car park remains open until late because it's near the cinema and it's only a short walk along the riverside to the bus station/tram stop.

It costs £2.10 into town from Meadowhall on the tram, but you can get a day ticket for £3.00.

I hope that helps and I haven't confused you :D

With regards to parking, just get near ground early enough and you will be fine :)

And thanks for knocking Cardiff out of play offs. Proud of you :)

Be careful round here, as Richards Road (which is the first right after the bridge), has now got double yellow lines part of the way up, and any free parking tends to get gobbled up pretty quickly. It's not that there's be any trouble inparticular, just that you might find yourself going a lot further away from the ground than you'd prefer to be. In general though, so long as you're early enough, you should be OK round the ground.

Also, regarding the Park & Ride info, I found this which I hope is up to date, which says that you can exit Nunnery Square up to a minute to midnight "with a valid Park & Ride ticket".

Give the travel no-helpline a buzz on 01709 515151 to check the Park & Ride out if you'd rather use that.

cheers for the advice, i'll have a look on google maps and see where the street parking is and try and plan on an area to go, failing that i'll go for the park and ride

see you on monday

Thinking about it, hasn't the Devonshire Arms on Ecclesall Road got a car park? The landlord had designated it as an 'away friendly' place too.

I wish you all the best and thanks for your comments, we all know its a lottery, if its our day, so be it, if its to be your day, then..... , well bugger, but life goes on and I will support you at Wembley.

Parking is fine if you are early enough, just dont steal my special place please.

The car parks in halfords and dunhelm mills off of Guernsy road always have spaces, never had trouble there and been parking there for ages..

The Preston fans were great tonight, if you had been playing anyone else, I certainly would have been rooting for you.

Your lads just didn't look up for the battle whereas, for once, ours did when it mattered.

You've had an amazing end to the season but you probably peaked at the wrong time and had too much taken out of you in that push to get in the play-offs.

If we do go up, then best wishes for next season. And if we don't, the same applies but we'd quite like six points off you if you don't mind :)

Chin up lad!

Aye, should be proud of their support tonight.

Cheers for coming on here in the right manner as well Mike!

cheers for the comments lads, and good luck in the final, the better team over the 2 legs won, we just looked tired. still a great season for us though, dont think anyone expected us to be in the play-offs this year, hope i've still got a voice in the morning, credit to all the preston fans for sticking around at the end of the game and hopefully that'll give our players a bit of a lift going into next season.

once again, good luck in the final, and not quite the wembley song we were hoping for but i quite enjoyed our rendition of peterbrough, peterbrough, were the famous preston north end and were going to perterbrough!!!!!

Cheers Mike, and well done to you lot who came over. Thanks for the kind thoughts, but believe me, I'd rather you only visited Bramall Lane in a Cup competition next season!

Take care fella.

Cheers Mate, good luck next season. Your supporters were a credit to your club and all in all I think the Club comes out of it with great respect.

Well done to everyone connected with Preston; I thought your fans were great and you've got a manager who is both good and humble. All the best for next season!

Credit the Preston fans for supporting them to the end, and all staying after the game to applaud their players despite the disappointment.

Good to see a lot of our support clapping their players off when they finally left the pitch too.

Amazing atmosphere last night, volume towards the end of the game was fantastic. I particularly liked late in the game when Monty made a surging run followed by a pass which found its man, and got a roar of approval from pretty much the whole ground. For a player who's had so much stick in the past, hope he gets to hear about some of the comparisons being made about him on Radio Sheff last night (our Essien, Carrick....;))

Had a quick chat withsome Preston lads on Cherry Street after the game. They promised to thrash Wednesday off the park next season if we're not here to do it ourselves :D Said if they did, they'd be more than welcome at the Lion afterwards and we'd buy 'em a pint or two.
