We still need an experienced and commanding CH.I didn't get to watch the game today, I listened to the French commentary whilst driving and all I got was a lot of frappeing.
However, we lost the game because of a stupid back pass own goal.
We have 4 CBs to come back (including babtiste), if we can get in a CM and a RB by end of transfer window, I feel like we have a good side.
If anyone leaves, we will need to replace them but I'm optimistic
As in Anel + new CH?We still need an experienced and commanding CH.
Yes, Anel or Bindon alongside an experienced organiser who I also hope will be captain material. Although I can see Anel going before the window closes. As in Anel + new CH?
Do you think Bindon is here as cover for Anel then? (Genuine question, not being sarcastic)
I think this is where our transfer activity is leaving fans a bit confused. It's not clear what role they are signed for.
Ukaki has come in and looks like he will compete in the squad. We signed our new 19 (I think?) Year old right back for the same amount but had 2 keepers in the bench today.
I am assuming with loan slots still to use we will end the transfer window with some cover in these areas.
And another striker particularly if Moore goes, Campbell looks way off it so farYes, Anel or Bindon alongside an experienced organiser who I also hope will be captain material. Although I can see Anel going before the window closes.
I think the new RB is for the youth team at this stage, but I’ve been very impressed with how quickly Ukaki has developed and would like him in and around the squad. If it turns out he’s not quite ready he could go out on loan in January.
So I think we still need a CH, another RB and maybe a RW on loan. And, of course, a CDM.
It looks very much as if McBurnie is coming in as a replacement for Moore. Campbell will get up to speed. And another striker particularly if Moore goes, Campbell looks way off it so far
Wilder never lost to a Champions League side though in a meaningless friendly. Change your agendain a friendly against a top side? No it means nothing
McBurnie coming in? You've just spoilt my day.It looks very much as if McBurnie is coming in as a replacement for Moore. Campbell will get up to speed.
Gus has been disappointing so far, but when it comes to match day he's much more of a game changer than Cal.My slight concern is that we've played two games now with O'Hare, Peck and Hamer together and something is off and not quite ticking there. It might sound controversial but I don't think we can play O'Hare and Hamer together and I'd rather start O'Hare over Hamer. That said, I'd still rather someone else started ahead of Peck. He'll have his use but I just don't see him as the long term answer yet.

Peck didn't play that well, but actually this game gave me more confidence in him. He had many outstanding games last season, but I had concerns whether he was going to develop physically. Looks like he has, so if he recreates his form from next season, and maybe takes it up a notch, we are in for quite a player. My slight concern is that we've played two games now with O'Hare, Peck and Hamer together and something is off and not quite ticking there. Thought he was by far our best midfield player today.Peck didn't play that well, but actually this game gave me more confidence in him. I am also wondering about Hamer's role in this team, and a solid offer from someone like PSV would have me tempted. If we bring in McBurnie, I could see him excelling in the no.10 role, and O'Hare could too. I don't love Hamer deep and I think the 2 other CMs should be (DM + Arblaster/Peck/Davies).
Why would we start playing two defensive midfielders now, when we haven't over pre-season?Barry must be accommodated at LW
Hamer obviously must start
Hamer shouldn't start deep
That leaves O'Hare as sub or shoved to RW
Currently I think it's clear this will be our best midfield and attack if Soumaré signs:
Peck Soumaré
Brooks Hamer Barry
Campbell
Selles has played 4-3-3 every minute so far though.Barry must be accommodated at LW
Hamer obviously must start

We've not had more than one (Peck) 'defensive' midfielder available all pre seasonWhy would we start playing two defensive midfielders now, when we haven't over pre-season?
It's more likely
O'Hare Soumare Hamer
Brooks Campbell Barry
Like a pantomime donkey ,let's hope this season doesn't turn out like it !
Hamer wasn't dm he just dropped deep unnecessarily at timesThoughts following this one:
- Decent performance against a good team. I thought we progressed the ball better than they did and pressed well.
- I don't like Hamer at DM, I don't think we get enough out of him there. Hopefull an incoming DM will free him to play further forward.
- While I don't think he had his best game on the ball, Sydie Peck looks physically stronger and if he can play like last season, could become a huge asset for us.
- I thought Seriki looked fine at RB. Don't be suprised if he starts the season at RB.
- The Nice CBs seem to out-muscle, and snuff out a lot of promising attacks. I don't know if its a level disparity, or something to be concerned with.
- One didn't look the threat he looked at against lower league opposition. Would dominate in league one, and that might not be a bad idea to send him there if we get a few more ST/Wingers through the door.
- Despite conceding 3 goals (one silly OG, one elite finish from 25 yards), I thought the makeshift CBs did alright against a top opponent.
- Cannon is a player who has been contributing all pre-season, and did today. I just don't see how you fit him into this team.
- Ukaki is intriguing and would like to see him on the bench at the start of the season to see if he can contribute at Championship level.
That's what we appear to be going with. It can work but it requires the DM to sit deep and hold their position. That for me is why Peck is not the answer. He chases the ball all over the place. Great when it works and he wins the ball, but if he doesn't or gives it away with a poor pass then it leaves a huge gap for teams to run through. Souza in comparison used to sit tight and wait for players with the ball to come to him. Same result but a lot more disciplined and any rare counts of players getting past him were mopped uo quickly by the defence stepping forward. Hopefully Soumare signs and plays more like Souza. Davies can play this role too but we sadly can't rely on him. We've not had more than one (Peck) 'defensive' midfielder available all pre season
If it was just one DM with O'Hare and Hamer flanking we'll be far too exposed
Barry must be accommodated at LW

I thought there were too many stray passes. I'm not worried about it. I'm excited about what he's going to do this year. Got a feeling he'll be playing in the PL in the 26/27 season with or without us.Thought he was by far our best midfield player today.
Peck is only a cert to start until Soumare signs and gets fully match fit, then I don't think we'll see a lot of him other than occasional rotation to give Soumare a rest now and then.Peck is a cert to start. He's currently the only CM we have to rely on, he's established now and there's also the asset development factor. Only Arblaster's return might threaten his place in the team but I'd hope to see them together
