25 by the end of next season and to date has 8 goals to his name. Seems like he’s ready for a permanent transfer and I’d be surprised at Villa loaning him out again.
I noticed this last season. He looked immense against us but his scoring record is distinctly in the McBurnie category

Difference being, even if he isn't prolific himself he makes chances and can actually play.

Who will pay what both Villa and the player would demand? He's currently on ~£45k/week.

Utd, for one, wouldn't be able to afford him

Thought it could it be someone from Bournemouth, now they're in the Prem. No one really stands out from their squad in the two games we played though

I realise that Brewster is the future, but imagine some of those runs and passes ending up at the feet of Billy Sharp.

Hecky: "you just hang around the box Billy, and let Keinan bring you that ball, you know what to do"
Sharps days are numbered. It will upset me immensely when he retires but a fit Brewster and Davis keep Sharp out of the squad as a backup option.

Last 10-15min impact sub to rough up a few defenders

I think we need to stop pretending every single player plays every single minute. With the break for the world cup rotation will be key.

If we are looking for a striker who will bag regularly, Davis is one of the last options on the list.

What I really like about Davis is his ability to control and retain the ball. For the last few years we've tried to play out of defence down the channels and expect one of our strikers to chase it down, to limited success. Forest got the ball out of defence quickly by playing it to Davis feet who could then control and retain position using strength or a pass. That ability will get us goals if you combine it with the running in behind we have been practicing in training. You just need your pod of three players and you are in behind from defence to attack in 3 passes.

I think having him alongside the likes of Brewster, Jebbo, or Osula will bring them on massively as it will allow them to focus on making intelligent runs while the defenders focus on Davis.

We’ve been writing Billy off every pre-season for the last few years now thought. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him still banging the goals in until he’s 40.

We aren’t looking at a striker

I will be surprised if a striker comes in. Weve got Billy, Brewster, McBurnie, Jebbo, Osuna and Ndiaye if Hecky plays him up front. Be delighted if Davis was to come but there are other areas of.more need.

Would disagree personally. Jebbison & Osula need to go out on loan to get a full seasons experience somewhere.

McBurnie we'll be trying to get rid of either on loan of permanent. Plus he's injured. That then leaves us with just Billy & Brewster if we assume Ndiaye is being considered as more of an attacking midfielder. As good and as fit as Billy is we have to be realistic and accept that at his age there is likely a higher chance of him suffering from injuries.

If we have top 2 aspirations we absolutely need another CF

If we want to try and scrape a play off place again we can go without

At the risk of continually saying the same thing, the best (highest quality) loans won’t be available until after the PL squads have been decided. Davis and Khadra aren’t in that bracket and I’d think we’d keep at least one loan spot open for a MGW level acquisition.

I'd be surprised if we weren't tbh. We only have 1 fit striker in Brewster, and he's coming back from injury. Jebbo and Osula aren't quite ready yet and Ndiaye isn't a striker.

That's a pretty risky way to start the season.

Unless Jebbo makes the place his own in pre-season, then a loan seems like a good idea. 6 months to say Derby would be a good move.

I suspect Billy will mostly come off the bench

Osula needs to go out and get experience

There are questions about Brewster and his fitness. Fit, I assume he starts, but difficult player to rely on given his injury record.

McBurnie - No idea what McBurnie is. Again, injured or absent much of last season. Huge questions over whether he can stay and remain fit. He's in the last year of his contract. I expect him to leave. He cost us £17.5 million. You would think that we might think of cashing in on him. If we could get £5 million I'd snap their hand off.
I assume he might otherwise go on a free to Swansea.

Ndiaye - You would think he'll be looking to start most games but not sure we have a player who is likely to start next to him. Not convinced the retention/defensive side of his game is good enough to play AMC.

Strikers

Billy - contract ends 2023
McBurnie - contract ends 2023
Brewster - contract end 2024
Jebbo contract ends 2024
Ndiaye - contract ends 2024

It seems fairly obvious to me that the bottom 3 need to be playing regularly. Not sure Ndiaye and Brewster can play together though. Neither seems to have the ability to hold up play and retain possession. Not Jebbo's forte either but he's better at it.

It won't happen, because formation, but this would be very dangerous going forward:

------------------------------------Wes
-----------Bogle---------Egan-----------Anel---------RND
----------------------Norwood-----------New DMC
--------------------------------Doyle--------------------
-----------Ndiaye-------------Jebbo-----------Brewster

I'd sell McBurnie if someone offered a fiver for him.

I could see them offering Brookes to try to get him fit again. But surely we'd tell them to do one.

Heard someone say T Chong from Man Utd. Not a bad shout

£40k a week? Frightening how much some of these young players are picking up. Its no wonder so many lose the appetite for playing at senior level when they are millionaires based on their abilities in age group football.
